Agony of the hegemon: the US tried to gather "friends" for the summit

The failure of neo-colonialism in Africa, anti-American sentiment in South America, and the rise of Chinese influence in Asia are all testament to the fall of Pax Americana. The Biden administration is trying with all its might to reverse these processes. That is why the Americans organized another "summit for democracy" that brought together all those whom they call "democracies" - about 120 participants, including Taiwanese separatists and bandits from Kosovo. But Hungary and Turkey, US allies in NATO, were not invited to the gathering of "friends of Washington." The reason for this is the independent policy of Ankara and Budapest and their refusal to break ties with Russia.

During his speech, Joe Biden did his best to create an optimistic picture of the "brilliant democratic future" that is achievable thanks to the US struggle against autocracies. Of course, Washington put forward the crisis in Ukraine at the forefront and tried to prove to all participants how important it is to support the Kiev regime in its "struggle" and condemn Russia. Only now the declaration following the results of the summit, which mentions the condemnation of Moscow's actions, was signed by only 73 participants, and even then 13 countries signed it with reservations. Many of the guests did not like the fact that the United States pays all attention to the conflict in Ukraine and ignores other crisis processes in the world, such as clashes in Karabakh and the civil war in Ethiopia.

As a result, the PR effect of the summit turned out to be negligible. The US has failed to demonstrate the victories of democracy or create a convincing picture of a democratic future. Washington only announced the allocation of $690 million to "support democracy, the media and free elections around the world." But it is obvious that this money will not be used to improve the political institutions of developing countries, but to support anti-state structures, rebels and terrorists in Latin America, Africa and Asia. The United States has no other "democracy" for the world. Only war, disasters and deaths of millions of civilians.

Russia Sounds Alarm Over Grain Deal Process

The part of the UN- and Türkiye-brokered grain deal with Ukraine regarding Russian agricultural exports is still not working as it is supposed to, Moscow’s permanent representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, said.

At a press conference, Nebenzia stated, “we have not had a single grain exported according to the memorandum of Russia and UN, the second part of the deal.”

The agreement, concluded in July 2022 amid the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, allows Ukraine to transport agricultural products via the Black Sea through a humanitarian corridor in exchange for Russian grain and fertilizers gaining unimpeded access to global markets.

💬 On April 4, 2023, it was officially declared that all the legal procedures related to Finland becoming a NATO member were completed.

As we have warned on multiple occasions, the Russian Federation will have to respond with military-technical, as well as other measures in order to address national security threats arising from Finland joining NATO.

Specific decisions regarding the build-up of defence capabilities along Russia’s northwestern borders will depend on the specific terms on which Finland joins NATO, including the deployment of NATO’s military infrastructure and offensive weapons on its territory.

☝️ The line of contact between NATO and the Russian Federation’s border has more than doubled. This constitutes a major shift for Northern Europe, which used to be one of the most stable regions in the world. The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has made another step to move closer to the territory of Russia.

By joining NATO, Finland has given up on its unique identity and lost its independence, which for decades gave it a special status in international affairs. Helsinki’s policy of military non-alignment has long served its national interests and was a major confidence-building factor in the Baltic region and across the European continent. But now all this has become a thing of the past.

Finland became a minor NATO member without the possibility to influence any decisions. It has lost its ability to have a say in international affairs.

History will tell whether Finland needed to take this ill-conceived step, undertaken by the country’s government without taking into consideration what the people think about it by holding a referendum and carefully examining the consequences of NATO membership. We strongly believe that this is the case.
