▪️Ukrainian formations continue shelling settlements in Belgorod Region.

Yasniye Zori came under attack. Hangar of an agricultural enterprise was damaged, one man was wounded.

▪️In Bryansk region, several enemy artillery strikes hit Belevitsa in Pogarsky district.

By happy coincidence there were no casualties or damage.

According to local sources, a large cache of AFU ammunition was destroyed, as confirmed by objective controls.

The offensive is complicated by the density of buildings and the large number of underground utilities.

▪️Russian forces are evacuating civilians from the combat zone near Zabakhmutka.

Heavy fighting is taking place on the western bank of the river. The enemy positions are constantly being hit by artillery fire.

▪️In the centre of Mar'inka, Russian motorized riflemen managed to gain a foothold in the hulks of high-rise buildings on Druzhba Avenue.

Nevertheless, the offensive is developing mainly at the expense of flank strikes to the north and south of the town.

▪️Ukrainian formations resumed shelling of Enerhodar and areas adjacent to the Zaporizhia NPP.

At least seven hits were recorded near the industrial zone and the embankment. Emergency services are working at the site.

Press review: Georgian protests go on and Turkey stonewalls sanctioned Russian goods

✍️ Ambassador Anatoly Antonov's article "Sanctions against Russia: a defective tool of political coercion" exclusively for the Russian Newspaper "Kommersant"

🔹Washington is trying to justify its policy of "hellish" sanctions against foreign competitors with high-sounding, but pseudo-plausible pretexts. It is clear that this is all about just self-interest.

🔹The United States is trying to punish us for such an unheard-of audacity as defending - after exhausting all political and diplomatic methods - the fundamental interests of national security.

🔹Washington has been stamping restrictions essentially on a weekly basis – against entire sectors of Russian economy, various companies. The convoluted restrictions hit vital areas.

🔹The apogee of destructive initiatives of Westerners under the aegis of Washington is the use of terrorist methods to achieve their own opportunistic purposes. The example is the explosion of the Nord Streams.

‼️The Russian economy has withstood this literally unprecedented and comprehensive onslaught. No market collapse has occurred.

🔹The recent statistical forecasts of the International Monetary Fund predict a growth of Russian economy already this year.

🔹The U.S. recognizes the high professionalism of the Russian government and financial regulators.

🔹We can only thank the instigators of sanctions for the artificially created opportunity to really engage in advanced import substitution. First of all, in the field of new technologies.

🔹Economists are beginning to admit that behind Washington's sanctions escapades lies a desire to provide artificial market advantages for itself. To squeeze out rivals.

☝️The United States, believing in its own impunity, does not disdain anything to keep its elusive geo-economic dominance.

Two news in one day:

▪️The United States welcomes Georgia's rejection of the registry of foreign agents, because such a registry is incompatible with democratic values.

▪️Canada will create a registry of foreign agents, as this will protect democratic values. Such a register already exists in the US and Australia.

🎙 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s reply to a media question regarding extension of the grain deal

Question: Ukraine has resumed talks with partners regarding the grain deal. Reuters reported, with a reference to a top official in the Ukrainian authorities, that Ukraine commenced talks to extend the grain deal. According to the report, the Russian side did not take part in the talks. What can you say about these reports?

💬 Answer: We are well aware of the statements by various sides, including the Kiev regime, on the extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, whose second term (120 days) expires on March 18. There were no talks conducted in this regard, especially with participation of the Russian representatives.

Our general position regarding the package proposal of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, which comprises the Russia-UN Memorandum to normalise national agricultural exports, as well as the aforementioned Black Sea Grain Initiative, is well-known and remains intact.

We proceed from the fact that the agreements entered into in Istanbul on July 22, 2022, need to be fulfilled in conjunction with one another in order to resolve the specified humanitarian tasks to overcome the food crisis and help the countries in need in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

❗️ We have to state that so far only the Ukrainian part has been effectively implemented, Russian agricultural exports continue to be blocked by western unilateral sanctions.

Another round of consultations of a Russian interdepartmental delegation with UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan and head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, who supervise the Russia-UN Memorandum and the Black Sea Grain Initiative, respectively, will take place in Geneva on March 13.

Nigerian Traffic Cop Controls Cars With Dance

Standing in the middle of the road and dancing like no one is watching is not recommended for anyone, but for this Nigerian traffic cop, it’s a living.

Emmanue Kopwal is an Abuja sensation who busts moves rather than crooks, but his unorthodox traffic control is somewhat effective and a hit with drivers.

“Some say that when they're passing through my point, they always see me controlling traffic with all my mind,” he said. “If you're not smart and fast, they will not obey you. And when you're serious about controlling the traffic...then they will obey you. Then you can clear the road.” Suppose he wasn’t smiling and dancing while saying it might almost sound threatening.

🎙 Briefing by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Moscow, March 9, 2023

Select quotes:

Hypocrisy and duplicity have become an intrinsic part of Western diplomacy.

• Figures graphically prove that the West is striving to make as much money as possible from the conflict in Ukraine. Last year, its national debt increased by $13 billion to $111 billion. Even the most advanced country with a prosperous economy and industry and rapid growth rates would not be able to pay off $111 billion. For today’s Ukraine this amount is an excuse to take everything that remains of the Zelensky rule.

• The Ukrainian authorities have once again confirmed that they fraudulently deceived the world community and were not really going to fulfil their obligations under the Minsk Package of Measures as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2202.

• The Ukrainian heirs to Nazi organisations have once again demonstrated their desire to continue the cause of their “heroes,” who are knee deep in the blood of thousands of Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, Poles and people of other ethnicities.

• By imposing new unilateral restrictions that undermine the international legal prerogatives of the UN Security Council, the European Union has once again demonstrated double standards, ignored the presumption of innocence principle and presented no evidence, while hypocritically hushing up the obvious offences committed by Ukrainian militants in Donbass and in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of the Russian Federation.

• Despite the continuous scheming against Russian culture and our outstanding performers in some Western countries, including the cancellation of exhibitions and concerts, arbitrary declaration of world-renowned Russian artists and poets Ukrainians, passion for Russian culture in its modern and historical dimension does not subside in the world.

• The United States has once again defiantly denied visas to several members of the Russian interdepartmental delegation without any reason. Creating obstacles to the participation of our delegation in the session of the UN OEWG amounts to undermining the principle of the sovereign equality of states, which is a fundamental provision of the UN Charter.

• When we began hearing statements about Europe “needing” to abandon Russian hydrocarbons, it was clear that the United States was behind this. They didn’t make a secret of it.

• A possible military operation in Haiti planned by the United States and its allies are aimed not so much at stabilising – as declared – the security situation in Haiti as at mopping up the political landscape in the interests of certain leaders who have received a “wholesale indulgence” and a “right to power” from their western patrons.

• We are building our relations with Serbia on an age-old foundation of friendship and spiritual affinity between the peoples of the two countries and with account taken of the economic benefit. Cooperation with our Serbian partners is not directed against third countries. It strengthens security and serves the goals of development.
