⚡️ Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine (16 January 2023)

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

💥 In Kupyansk direction, Army Aviation and artillery of the Western Military District have neutralised the units from 92nd Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade near Sinkovka and Berestovoye (Kharkov region).

◽️ Over 30 Ukrainian personnel, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, and 3 motor vehicles have been eliminated.

💥 In Krasny Liman direction, attacks launched by artillery units of the Central Military District at the concentration of manpower from 95th Airborne Assault Brigade and 125th Territorial Defence Brigade of the AFU have resulted in the elimination of over 75 Ukrainian personnel, 3 tanks, 5 armoured fighting vehicles, and 1 pickup near Serebryanka and Terny (Donetsk People's Republic).

💥 In Donetsk direction, units of the Southern Military District, supported by units of Airborne Troops, continue their offensive operations.

◽️ Over 50 Ukrainian personnel, 1 armoured personnel carrier, and 8 motor vehicles have been eliminated.

💥 In South Donetsk direction, units of the Eastern Military District have launched strikes at the 65th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU near Stepovoye (Zaporozhye region) and 108th Territorial Defence Brigade near Novosyolka (Donetsk People's Republic).

◽️ Up to 30 Ukrainian personnel, 1 armoured fighting vehicle, and 2 pickups have been eliminated.

✈️💥 Operational-Tactical Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 1 depot of ordnance, military and special hardware of the AFU near Krasny Liman (Donetsk People's Republic), 1 hangar with the military hardware of 9th Special Regiment of Ukrainian National Guard near Malokaterinovka (Zaporozhye region), as well as 79 artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and hardware at 101 areas.

💥 Counterbattery warfare operations have resulted in destruction of:

▪️ 1 Ukrainian Grad multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS), and 2A36 Giatsint-B howitzer near Avdeyevja (Donetsk People's Republic);

▪️ 1 D-30 howitzer near Antonovka (Donetsk People's Republic);

▪️ 1 2A65 Msta-B howitzer, and 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer near Zaliznichnoye and Orekhovo (Zaporozhye region);

▪️ 1 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer near Inzhenernoye (Kherson region).

◽️ Moreover, 2 U.S.-manufactured AN/TPQ-37 and AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery warfare radars have been destroyed near Karmazinovka (Lugansk People's Republic) and Avdeyevka (Donetsk People's Republic), respectively.

💥 Air defence facilities have destroyed 3 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Novosyolovskoye and Sofiyevka (Lugansk People's Republic).

◽️ 7 rocket-propelled projectiles launched by HIMARS and Uragan MLRS have been intercepted near Surovtsevka (Lugansk People's Republic), Fyodorovka (Donetsk People's Republic), and Vasilyevka (Zaporozhye region).

📊 In total, 372 airplanes and 200 helicopters, 2,885 unmanned aerial vehicles, 401 air defence missile systems, 7,537 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 983 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 3,841 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 8,066 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.

❗️Kremlin Reacts To Blast At Residential Building In Ukraine

Ukraine is to blame for the deadly blast at a residential building in the city of Dnepr on Saturday that killed dozens of people and even some Kiev officials have said so, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

“The Russian Armed Forces don’t target residential buildings or social infrastructure facilities. The attacks are only aimed at military targets,” Peskov told journalists.

“You’ve seen the conclusions of the representatives of the Ukrainian side, which say that this tragedy was the result of the actions of the air defense missiles,” he pointed out.

According to the latest data from the Ukrainian Emergencies Services, at least 36 people were killed and 75 others in the explosion, which delivered heavy damage to the building.

Zelensky Is Destroying Ukraine — Exiled Opposition Leader

The policies of President Vladimir Zelensky's government – based on hatred and intransigence towards Russia – are inevitably driving Ukraine into poverty, the former parliamentary opposition leader has warned.

Viktor Medvedchuk, who was forced into exile after being arrested by the SBU (the successor agency to the Soviet KGB), claims that Kiev is encouraging the same approach in other European states. He believes that such dangerous sentiment could even lead to an eventual nuclear standoff. 

Medvedchuk’s political party was the second largest in the current Ukrainian parliament, before it was banned last year. The rump of the faction is now closely controlled by Zelensky's "Servant of the People" group.

💬 The French authorities have decided to stop cooperating with Russia on preserving and restoring Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois Cemetery. In part, they refused to accept money from Russia for the restoration. Le Monde wrote about this over the weekend.

This is a kind of Necrophilia-2023. Shame on flagrant inhuman immorality.

Has Paris decided to fight the dead under the influence of herd instinct? The authorities have not yet risked touching the mass burial sites of Red Army soldiers on French territory, fearing the large-scale indignation of the educated French that still cherish the memory of the Resistance and De Gaulle. So, they decided to take it out on the graves in the Russian cemetery where representatives of the cream of Russian emigration are buried. It is pointless to ask them what was done to the French by Ivan Bunin and Boris Zaitsev, White Army generals, philosophers, poets, artists and essayists, including Albert Benois and Zinaida Gippius. The defilers of these graves could hardly find an adequate answer.

Now Paris is holding the cemetery hostage to its political ailment. Meanwhile, it was preserved even in Soviet times. That said, the graves of Napoleon’s soldiers in Russia are invariably kept in worthy conditions (but not worthy of the authorities of their compatriots today). As for Normandie-Nieman members, we cherish their memory along with our heroes.

The Russophobes in France are trying to exploit the fashionable “cancel Russia” policy but the hardest hit are the completely innocent Orthodox eight-point tombstone crosses of White Russian emigration. Maybe this is why so many people have bequeathed burials at home.

Our Embassy in Paris has responded to these outrageous actions by the authorities of the Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois Cemetery: We consider it absolutely unacceptable that the political games in the context of the Ukraine crisis are assuming such unseemly forms in the West, jeopardising the maintenance of the graves of long-dead Russians.

Paris is probably sending a signal to all newcomers that they will become totally dependent not only during their lives but also after they die.

You know what I would like to say to those who left the country succumbing to the panic, the cries of traitors, or having fallen victim to someone’s evil plan or one’s own cowardice (this happens to everyone)? Remember one thing – if someone is going to accept you, this will be your Motherland. Hardly anyone will fight for you or your return here. Some things are more important than that. But “forgive and forget” always works here, even if we strongly disagree with what you have done.

This is so because we don’t leave our people behind.

🇷🇺 Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu inspects headquarters of the 'Vostok' Group within his work in special military operation area

◽️ Sergei Shoigu heard the report of Group Commander Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov on current situation and operations conducted by the group of forces, as well as the reports of the commanders of other groups of forces.

◽️ The Russian Defence Minister was also informed by formation commanders on the progress in the operations conducted in the main directions.

◽️ The Minister of Defence of Russia placed the main emphasis on organising comprehensive provision to the forces involved in the special military operation, installing fortifications, and creating conditions for safe accommodation of personnel in field environment, as well as the work of medical and logistic units.

◽️ Sergei Shoigu thanked the personnel who bravely operate in the area of the special military operation, as well as presented them with state awards for the acts of selflessness and heroism.

💬 'You perform your service decently, you protect our Fatherland, you help those who need help, doing everything to make the day, called the Victory Day, come sooner', stated Sergei Shoigu.
