Russian vaccines are effective against Kraken subvariant, says Health Ministry expert
"Studies have shown that all the vaccines that we have continue to be effective in terms of reducing the risk of a severe course of the disease," Vladimir Chulanov stressed
MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. Russian coronavirus vaccines remain effective against a new variant of the Omicron strain XBB.1.5, dubbed Kraken, the lead infectious diseases specialist of the Russian Health Ministry, Vladimir Chulanov, reported on Thursday.
"Studies have shown that all the vaccines that we have continue to be effective in terms of reducing the risk of a severe course of the disease," he said during a Rossiya-24 TV broadcast.
In this regard, Chulanov called on people to revaccinate against COVID-19 every six months. He also emphasized that Russian vaccines were safe and could do no harm.
Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) earlier reported the new Omicron subvariant, dubbed Kraken, has been recorded in the country for the first time in the Penza Region. The sanitary watchdog stressed that there were no plans to impose restrictions. Chulanov noted that according to the available information, the Kraken subvariant did not entail a severe course of the disease.

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC debate "Promotion and strengthening of the rule of law in the maintenance of international peace and security: the rule of law among nations"

💬 When raising the issue of rule of law, our former Western partners only seek to promote the point about Russia’s alleged responsibility for the emerging threats to international peace and security. While doing this, they dismiss the blatant violations of their own.

Of course, we cannot agree to this narrative, which completely fits into the “rules-based order” concept, where the rules are dictated by the West. This narrative is simply false and contrary to the norms of the international law, including the UN Charter.

❗️ The real causes of the Ukrainian crisis are the arrogance of the West and its absolute unwillingness to take into account the interests of others, even when it comes to such crucial aspects as security of a state.

The collective West blatantly violated the international law and the legal order based on the rule of this law, once NATO air-dropped first bombs on Yugoslavia.

Then there was the “war on terror” which led to the devastation and many years of occupation of Afghanistan.

Everyone remembers NATO’s false-flag aggression against Iraq, which they explained by Iraq’s allegedly possession of WMDs.

Then came Libya, where the same concept of “humanitarian intervention” was used, but under a different name. This time it was “responsibility to protect”.

Next one on the list of states who suffered from the “rule of law American style” is Syria.

👉 The manmade Ukrainian crisis that I mentioned earlier fits perfectly well in this chain of events that were caused by colonial thinking and hegemony of the West. Everyone who looks at it without bias can clearly see that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine is a consequence rather than the root cause of the Ukrainian crisis, which is at least 9 years old.

#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

💬 German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has once again "distinguished" herself as a diplomat by accusing Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of lying to her.

Here is an exact quote of the German Foreign Minister: “At the press conference in Moscow, I asked Sergey Lavrov how else the 150,000 soldiers on the border with Ukraine could be understood except as a threat. His reply: that it was normal military exercises <…>. Russia has always claimed that its aim was to protect the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine. And then we had to watch as Mariupol was razed to the ground, as the Russian tanks brought not baby food, but death, suffering and destruction to the whole of Ukraine.”

Mentioning tanks and baby food was probably some kind of wordplay. In fact, Russia has been delivering tonnes of baby food, clothes and medicine to Donbass for eight long years, with people like Annalena looking at the white trucks through their binoculars and talking about trucks carrying tanks for an invasion.

She did not ask a single question during the news conference. Instead, she referred to Sergey Lavrov as her “dear colleague” and talked about cooperation prospects. She did, in fact, mention Ukraine in her opening remarks, right after Navalny: “Russia in recent weeks has amassed more than 100,000 troops with guns and tanks near the Ukraine border. It is hard not to understand that as a threat.” After that the journalists, rather than Baerbock, asked the two ministers their questions – this is how this format works. Here is what Sergey Lavrov answered to a similar question from a journalist, and not from Germany’s minister: “We explained that the ‘escalation’ mentioned by many Western politicians actually means the presence of our troops on our own territory, holding exercises for the purposes of combat training. Every country does this. We made it clear that we cannot accept any demands that concern the Russian armed forces on our own territory.”

Now to the lying part. Angela Merkel’s home folk better keep it to themselves. Lies is what Baerbock and all her predecessors, or at least three of them in this position, starting with Frank-Walter Steinmeier, have been telling about the Minsk agreements for more than seven years.

But thanks to Merkel’s revelations we now know that “the 2014 Minsk agreements were an attempt to give time to Ukraine. It also used this time to become stronger.”

After so many years of lies about the commitment to the Minsk agreements, and continuing to lie today, Annalena Baerbock has no moral right whatsoever to talk about what is true and what is a lie.

⚡️ Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine (13 January 2023)

📄 Part I (read Part II)

❗️ In the evening of 12 January, the city of Soledar, that is of great importance for continuing successful offensive operations in Donetsk direction, was liberated.

◽️ The establishment of full control of Soledar allows to block the supply routes of Ukrainian forces in the city of Artyomovsk, located to the southwest, as well as to block and to pocket the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) that still remain there.

◽️ The capture of Soledar became possible due to constant fire attacks launched at the enemy by Ground-Attack and Army Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Group of Forces. Concentrated attacks were uninterruptedly launched at AFU positions in the city, impeding the redeployment of reserve forces, ordnance supplies, as well as the enemy's attempts to redeploy to other defensive lines.

✈️ Within the liberation of the city, Fighter Aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces had destroyed 3 airplanes and 1 helicopter of Ukrainian Air Force that were tasked to provide aerial fire support to Ukrainian forces.

💥 Moreover, air defence crews of the Russian Group of Forces had shot down nine rocket-propelled projectiles launched by HIMARS and Uragan multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) at the strongpoints taken by Russian forces near Soledar.

◽️ Airborne Troops carried out a covert manoeuvre from other direction, attacked AFU positions on the move, took the dominating heights, and blocked the northern and southern limits of the city.

◽️ Russian electronic warfare facilities and forces, concentrated in the abovementioned direction, neutralised hostile control system, and frustrated the operation of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.

💥 The set of measures, adopted by the Russian Group of Forces, has led to successful offensive operations of assault detachments in liberating Soledar. Within the last 3 days, more than 700 Ukrainian personnel, and over 300 units of armament of the AFU have been eliminated.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

💥 In Kupyansk direction, attacks launched by the artillery of the Western Military District at the units of Ukrainian 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade have resulted in the elimination of up to 20 personnel, 3 armoured fighting vehicles, and 3 motor vehicles near Krakhmalnoye and Berestovoye (Kharkov region).

💥 In Krasny Liman direction, artillery strikes launched by a formation of Airborne Troops from Pskov have resulted in the neutralisation of the units from 80th and 95th airborne assault brigades of the AFU near Grigorovka and Serebryanka (Donetsk People's Republic).

◽️ The enemy has lost over 40 Ukrainian personnel, 4 armoured personnel carriers, and 3 pickups.

💥 In South Donetsk direction, complex fire strikes launched by Baltic Fleet's marine units have resulted in the elimination of over 20 Ukrainian personnel, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, and 2 motor vehicles near Poltavka and Uspenovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Fake news:
Ukrainian soldiers managed to leave Soledar through a humanitarian corridor. At the same time, part of Soledar still remains under Ukrainian control. Such reports have been spread by Ukrainian Telegram channels and a number of Western media outlets.

The fact:
Soledar's fate has been decided, no matter how much Ukrainian and Western propagandists might wish otherwise. The forces remaining in the town yesterday were encircled and almost completely cleared out as they refused to surrender. The mopping-up of private sector houses is currently nearing completion. As recently as yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Soledar was blockaded from the north and south. Today, information about the full assumption of control over the city by the Russian Federation has been confirmed by servicemen who are taking part in the operation. This is also evidenced by numerous photographs and video footage from a variety of sources. The capture of Soledar is an important intermediate stage for the setting up of the next 'cauldron', now near Bakhmut.

There was no "evacuation of Ukrainian military units" and no "green corridors" near Soledar. The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, called such reports "a cheap spectacle". On the contrary, there are numerous videos showing Ukrainian armed forces fighters unsuccessfully trying to break through the cauldron using armoured personnel carriers and cars to escape from the besieged city.

It should be noted that even readers of Ukrainian telegram channels acknowledge the loss of Soledar in comments. The most frequent reaction under the message "Soledar is still under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces" is a laughing smiley face.

The Western media, however, as if on cue, began to change their rhetoric. While recently Soledar was mentioned as one of the key defence points of the Ukrainian armed forces and a strategic point on the map, it has now become an insignificant settlement, the control over which is not decisive.
