💬 It seems to be the end of the road for Guaidó. He's done.
You may still recall this would-be president of Venezuela guided by Washington who pretended to assume office all while Nicolas Maduro was the country’s sitting president, duly elected and legitimate. What Guaidó was in charge of remains unclear. Some say that there were some diplomats who took his orders, but now that this American “el presidente” has officially become a mister nobody, all these self-proclaimed ambassadors resigned all at once, as if they were ordered to do so.
What a facepalm story.
Juan Guaidó’s backers have been turning away from him throughout 2022, as I wrote earlier, so by the end of the year, even Spain restored its relations with Venezuela, and appointed an ambassador there. And now it is a done deal: Guaidó is no longer even a puppet. He is simply a nobody.
Of course, the Americans are trying to rely on the radical opposition in order to pretend that the fight goes on. However, no one seems willing to take on the role of a fake president. They somehow managed to scrap together a team of three female leaders, but even the media outlets and experts on their payroll do not really believe in them. It is clear why: they will lose their backers just as the latest failed project.
Tikhanovskaya will come next, and I would suggest that Vladimir Zelensky keep Guaidó’s biography on his desk, right under the mirror.

⚡️Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine

◻️The Russian Federation Armed Forces continue the special military operation.
◻️In Kupyansk direction, artillery and army aviation have engaged the concentrations of manpower of the 92nd Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade close to Sinkovka and Kislovka (Kharkov region), as well as Novoselovskoye (Lugansk People's Republic) neutralising over 30 Ukrainian servicemen and two motor vehicles.
◻️In Krasny Liman direction, artillery fire, assault and army aviation strikes defeated the assault groups of the 95th, 80th airborne assault and 25th airborne brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Torskoye (Donetsk People's Republic), Chervonaya Dibrova, Makeyevka, and Chervonopopovka (Lugansk People's Republic). Moreover, four sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been eliminated close to Kuzmino (Lugansk People's Republic) and Serebryansky forestry.
💥The AFU have suffered up to 90 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded, as well as two armoured combat vehicles, and three vehicles eliminated during the day.
◻️In Donetsk direction, Russian troops have liberated Podgorodnoye (Donetsk People's Republic) during a successful offensive.
◻️Airborne Troops blockaded Soledar from the northern and southern parts of the city. The Russian Aerospace Forces strike at enemy strongholds. Assault squads are fighting in the city.
💥Up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen, one tank, three armoured fighting vehicles, and two motor vehicles were destroyed as a result of the shelling of units of the 61st AFU Mechanised and 17th Tank Brigades.
◻️In South Donetsk direction, up to 25 Ukrainian servicemen, an infantry fighting vehicle, and two motor vehicles have been annihilated by a complex fire attack near Nikolskoye, Prechistovka, and Novoselka (Donetsk People's Republic).
💥Operational-Tactical and Army Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery have neutralised a command and observation post of a battalion of the 57th AFU Motorised Infantry Brigade close to Artemovsk (Donetsk People's Republic). Besides, during the day, 74 AFU artillery units, manpower and military hardware have been hit in 113 areas.

⚡️ Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, has been appointed Commander of the Russian Joint Group of Forces as part of a special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday.
▪️ The Defense Ministry added that Commander of the Aerospace Forces General Sergey Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Colonel General Alexei Kim have been named Gerasimov's deputies.
▪️ The new appointments in the leadership of the special military operation are connected with the expansion of the scale of the tasks being solved and the need for closer interaction between all types and branches of the military, the MoD explained.

Private military company founder says the Donbass town is fully under Russian control
Ukrainian soldiers surrounded in Soledar have either surrendered or been killed, Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin said on Wednesday. Fighters with the private military company completely surrounded the Donbass town the day before and are now clearing the extensive tunnel network in the town's salt mines.
⚔️“I want to repeat that Soledar has been fully liberated and cleared of Ukrainian army units,” Prigozhin said in a statement on Wednesday evening. “The Ukrainian troops that refused to surrender have been destroyed.”
💥Prigozhin estimated that around 500 Ukrainian troops have been killed after Wagner forces closed the encirclement of Soledar.
“The entire town is littered with the bodies of Ukrainian servicemen,” he said.
Wagner fighters first circulated a video taken in downtown Soledar on Tuesday, as proof the town administration was under their control. Later in the day, Prigozhin was filmed touring the salt mine tunnels, which he said Wagner was starting to clear. The tunnel network is approximately 300 kilometers (186 miles) long and reaches hundreds of meters below the ground level.
Prigozhin also quashed rumors, circulating due to a meeting of Russian and Ukrainian officials in Türkiye on Wednesday, that some kind of evacuation was being arranged.

"I will not say anything about what will happen in the Security Council on Ukraine at the beginning of next week [January 17, 20:00 GMT] - let our opponents live in the dark for now (although we have already accustomed them that we try to respond to their 'anti-Russia' meeting with our own on a topic that is inconvenient for them)," Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy said on Telegram.
He added that Russia will also hold an informal Security Council meeting on December's shelling of Donbass on January 20 at 16:00 GMT.

Regarding a recent publication in “Financial Times” on the situation around the re-election of the Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme.
The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations expresses concern over the recent publication in “Financial Times” (dated January 7) of an unbalanced and politically biased article on the situation around the re-election of the Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
Since June last year (not only after publication of a UNEP report on Ukraine in October as suggested by the FT), we have been in consultation with the Secretary-General on the fair geographical representation in the leadership of UNEP. We made a point that these discussions should remain professional, constructive, and confidential in accordance with established UN practices to avoid politicization and unnecessary personification.
❌ However, the information was leaked to the press, apparently, in an attempt to exert pressure on the debate in the General Assembly, which we find inappropriate.
In this context, the Russian Mission would like to put the facts straight.
Indeed, Russia is not satisfied with the nomination by the Secretary-General of the current UNEP Executive Director, a Danish national, to be re-elected by the UN General Assembly for another four years because it would constitute a perpetualisation of a very unhealthy and discriminatory practice of nominating solely representatives of western countries to this high office. Out of seven Executive Directors of UNEP six were from either Europe or Canada. This is a clear violation of the spirit of Article 101 of the UN Charter and resolution 5/13 of the UN Environment Assembly adopted by consensus in February 2022 on fair geographical representation in the Secretariat of UNEP.
Inevitably, this practice leads to the domination of western staff in the UNEP Secretariat and serves the environmental priorities of a certain group of countries thus narrowing the scope of UNEP activities. <...>
❗️ We believe that it is high time to strengthen the geographic balance in UNEP and to enable a representative of the developing world to guide this organization.

Дальше была концепция «войны с террором». Она привела к разрушению и многолетней оккупации Афганистана.
Все помнят натовскую агрессию против Ирака под насквозь фальшивым предлогом наличия «оружия массового поражения».
В Ливии применили концепцию «гуманитарной интервенции», но под новым названием – «ответственности по защите».
Очередной страной, пострадавшей от верховенства права по-американски стала Сирия.
👉 В цепочку этих событий, ставших результатом западного колониального мышления и гегемонизма, очень хорошо вписывается рукотворный украинский кризис. СВО России на Украине – это следствие, а не первопричина украинского кризиса. За «точку отсчёта» можно взять февраль 2014 года, когда коллективный Запад подготовил, профинансировал и поддержал в этой стране кровавый антиконституционный вооружённый переворот, лицемерно названный «революцией достоинства».
💬 Ставя вопрос о верховенстве права, наши бывшие западные партнеры хотят лишь продвигать нарратив о якобы ответственности России за возникающие угрозы международному миру и безопасности, оставляя при этом «за скобками» свои собственные вопиющие нарушения.
