[This success is due to] traditional vaccines, which represent active measures that induce the host to make antibodies against the disease being targeted,” points out Kevin Russell, MD, MTMH, section head, pediatric portfolio, global clinical research, Merck Research Laboratories. “However, in the case of RSV, the challenge for newborns or premature babies is that they don’t have an adequate or mature enough immune system to respond well to traditional active vaccinations. That’s where passive vaccination with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) can play a role.
'The advantage of passive vaccination is that its onset is immediate. You don’t have to wait for the immune system to create the antibodies for protection. It also provides very specific protection since mAbs can be designed only to attack and neutralize the infectious agent—in this case, RSV.'"

That figure could move higher though, as Moderna still is negotiating potential contracts with pharmacies, hospital systems, and others. As we head toward a post-pandemic situation, the company will sign deals with these private players instead of with the government. In this private market, the price of Moderna's vaccine will move higher, too -- possibly reaching as much as $130 a dose.
Moderna sees this market following that of the flu, with people going back for annual boosters. This is positive because it represents a source of recurrent revenue. The company forecasts a coronavirus market of $15 billion. This season's coronavirus hospitalization rate has been almost triple that of the flu. So, it's very likely those who go for a flu vaccine will want protection from the coronavirus too.
But Moderna isn't stopping here. The company is aiming to launch vaccine products across coronavirus, flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) -- and reap major rewards as early as 2027."

"Rather than some embarrassingly reductionist, one-deficiency-one-illness-one-pill model of mental illness, contemporary exploration of human behavior has demonstrated that we may know less than we ever thought we did. And that what we do know about root causes of mental illness seems to have more to do with the concept of evolutionary mismatch than with genes and chemical deficiencies.
In fact, a meta-analysis of over 14,000 patients and Dr. Insel, head of the NIMH, had this to say:
“Despite high expectations, neither genomics nor imaging has yet impacted the diagnosis or treatment of the 45 million Americans with serious or moderate mental illness each year.”
To understand what imbalance is, we must know what balance looks like, and neuroscience, to date, has not characterized the optimal brain state, nor how to even assess for it.
A New England Journal of Medicine review on Major Depression, stated:
” … numerous studies of norepinephrine and serotonin metabolites in plasma, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid as well as postmortem studies of the brains of patients with depression, have yet to identify the purported deficiency reliably.”
The data has poked holes in the theory and even the field of psychiatry itself is putting down its sword."
