LATERAL FLOW TESTING IN SCHOOLS: Currently Lateral Flow antigen tests have a false positive rate per test of over 0.32%
In a school with 300 children with bi-weekly testing of each child, this means that on average two perfectly healthy children per week will test positive every week.
This means that potentially two entire year form classes may have to be sent home each week for quarantine.

The only way to avoid this is to only test children when either they have symptoms, or they are the close contacts of someone else who has been a confirmed Covid19 case, including symptoms.

It is neither advisable nor good medical practice to test asymptomatics when the prevalence of a disease is lower than 30%, as only at that level the false positives will equal the false negatives.
This is called Bayes Theorem, and as it is counter-intutive many people don’t understand this.

Matt Hancock of course understands this very well, and this is precisely why he is pushing for these tests: to create as much disruption as possible in order to profit both from the tests and from moving the economy towards a digital economy.

In conclusion, the mass testing of asymptomatics is a trap, and we should all be very careful before falling in it, especially a school.
