What an interesting interview. Tegnell is unflappable.
But.....several things are still badly “off” about the whole thing in Sweden, as everywhere.
For example, not once was early treatment even mentioned.
Another was in relation to understanding where transmission was occurring, “better to learn what to close”. Yet there are numerous publications showing that it is in hospitals, care homes & to an extent, private houses that covers the vast majority of the transmission. This because we became aware that efficient transmission requires high viral load in the airways as well as manoeuvres to expel infection. We used to call that “being ill”. The myth of asymptomatic transmission was exploded really quite early on, not that you could tell this from our lying media, politicians or their advisors.
Finally, Tegnell’s unreserved support for vaccination, “It is a social duty to get vaccinated” is extraordinary. He definitely didn’t give the impression that everyone must be vaccinated but he has not one word of caution on risk / benefit, despite the international evidence, notably from Israel & U.K., showing that they really aren’t very effective on any dimension. They don’t prevent transmission, or infection & it’s not even clear they lower the rate at which infected people become ill, or ill people land up in hospitals, or hospitalised patients require ICU, or ICU patients die.
It’s hard to be definite about any of these things because ALL of them rest upon testing being an accurate discriminator of clinical infection as opposed merely to a positive PCR test.
Does anyone know how mass testing has been operated in Sweden?
Sayers chose not to ask some key questions that I’d hoped he would broach, like targeting of vaccination & especially to ask Tegnell his views & recommendations on vaccination of young people & of those not at obvious risk. Finally, policy in relation to those who’ve had covid19 & recovered.
I believe that the key act in U.K. that ceded control of the entire event to a mere handful of private individuals was the sweeping out completely of testing from properly run NHS pathology labs & what was left of the old Public Health Laboratory Services in favour of unregulated ‘Lighthouse Labs’ and similar.
If the Swedish epidemiology service had reliable input data from testing, it would have made a large difference.
Obviously, Sweden has done better & better as time has gone by, relative to their critics. Tegnell does say that in terms of excess deaths, they’re fourth from bottom in a European league.
While I still have the same uneasy feelings, with a few of the reasons for that above, I am so very glad that the Swedish example does exist.
I would not be surprised if we need continually to refer to Sweden in order to counter new nonsense in other countries.

Some will argue that the latest PHE report reveals 77% of Covid-19 deaths are among the fully vaccinated because the majority of the population have had the vaccine, therefore the majority of deaths will be among the vaccinated, and that’s fine to argue that…

The UK Government's own data does not support the claims made for vaccine effectiveness/safety!!
It turns out that, even using this age adjusted mortality rate, the death rate is currently higher among the vaccinated than the unvaccinated.  
The chart shows that, over time (1st Jan– July 2nd 2021), the weighted mortality rate for the vaccinated has steadily increased and by week 16 (23 April 2021), surpassed that for the unvaccinated. Solid info by two professors! #tideisturning #thishastostop

Israeli TV just admitted it makes no difference if you’re vaccinated or not to chances of getting ill / dying.
Surely having shown the data & made the statement, people will shrug & say “there’s no rationale to be doing any of this. No basis for any differential restrictions. Just call a halt right now”.

Very frightening that, even in the state of Florida (when I thought both a governors executive order AND an act through their state legislature, VaxPass was illegal) they still needed to get lucky with on this occasion a successful injunction against a specific city’s vaccine mandate.
As it turned out, the city failed to submit any evidence supportive of the necessity & proportionality requirements of any law. So the circuit judge granted the injunction, but that buys the people merely weeks.
I’d recognised that parts of the US justice system are still working but I’d failed to understand the Byzantine nature of law making at city or county vs state level as compared with federal level. I’d wrongly understood that the battle lines would be as between a remote & often unpopular federal government & the local (state) level.
It appears to be a great deal more complicated than that.
Is anyone able to summarise the powers of a governor in a state where that same party has a majority in its own legislative assembly? What limits are there in terms of what the individual state can do to restrain or to require a city or county (whatever units there are below state level) not to do or must do?
The horrible possibility is that opponents of this ghastly VaxPass law in its many forms have to be fought and won at every level from the lowest / smallest level, all the way to a whole state.
There simply aren’t enough lawyers & certainly not enough experts to provide expert opinions (not that the judge is obligated to satisfy themselves of the merits of the arguments about a mandate.
Depressing, even though “this time, the right side won the argument”, because it has to be repeated hundreds, possibly thousands of times, in order to have any chance to save the republic for those who treasure freedom (including to make their own laws on the subsidiarity basis).
Once again, please recognise that even with the smartest lawyers & hardest working providers of expert opinions, even in states with governors like DeSantis, Abbott & Noem, the law alone cannot save us.
And most of us do not live in places where the legal system is as rapid & occasionally wise as in parts of the USA.
That I hope reminds us that UNITED NON COMPLIANCE is utterly non negotiable.
The state / county / city must not be permitted to do things which are directly against the interests & constitutional rights guaranteed to every citizen of the US of A.
Bad enough opposing the permanent corruption that is the Federal Govt.
I find it frustrating that, even where bipartisanship would perfectly align with the interests of voters, we don’t even see stable power blocs in Washington, let alone at state level.
Senators definitely on the same side in all these arguments apparently don’t invest time in relationship-building across their own political groupings.
When did we ever see eg Senators Ron Johnson & Rand Paul link arms with state Governors like DeSantis, Abbott & Noem in states where leadership is more closely aligned to the legitimate interests of voters than with those of “Mr Global”.
Very frustrating & worrying.
