"US CHILD VACCINATION The number of new COVID-19 cases among children in the US has risen exponentially in recent weeks, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, causing many parents to become increasingly eager to vaccinate their young kids, especially as they return to school. But none of the available vaccines are authorized for children under age 12, prompting the US FDA this week to warn parents to not seek out SARS-CoV-2 vaccines for children who are not yet eligible and physicians not to use the now fully approved Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine “off-label” in younger patients, as they might need smaller dosages. The regulatory agency said it is “working around the clock” to support the review process necessary to safely and expeditiously authorize or approve a vaccine for children. US health officials say they are hopeful that a vaccine will be available for 5- to 11-year-olds by the end of the year. The data—a series of gene sequences from coronavirus samples obtained from Covid-19 patients in Wuhan in January and February 2020—could hold clues about the origin of the pandemic. The sequences were deleted from the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) last year at the request of one of the Wuhan University researchers who had originally provided them—a move that three Republican U.S. senators questioned in June in a sternly worded letter to NIH Director Francis Collins."

Shortage of truck drivers in the UK

In this interview a BBC panel discuss the fact Brexit has caused issues with the availability of truck drivers in the UK but they also highlight that the same issues are also evident in France, Germany, Spain and elsewhere.

They mention long term issues in the truck driving industry including an aging workforce, the fact that the DVLA delayed the processing of HGV licences during the “pandemic” (down to just over 1k licences a week when 15k a week are now being processed, in part to clear the backlog).

Perhaps though the most telling part is that the ONS numbers show that a huge numbers of truck drivers had time out of the industry due to being off or self isolating during Covid but most critically that 50,000 truck drivers have completely left the profession since Covid began and most of these drivers were above the age of 45 years. Where have these truck drivers gone?

We are told there are about 300k truck drivers in the UK so almost 20% just decided not to come back?
