It is a testimony of a skewed understanding of history that some people get upset when I point out that according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia itself, the Holocaust was NOT an exclusively Jewish event. Look at this table for example.

When it comes to Jews killed in the death camps the official estimate, as there is no possibility to be sure about this, is approximately 2.7 million, again according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia.

Gassing people (with carbon monoxide originally) was initially not used exclusively to kill Jews but as part of the Aktion T4 eugenics and euthanasia program, largely targeting disabled people in allocated killing centres. These were the precursors of the death camps.
