"The chosen site in Victoria Tower Gardens, immediately adjacent to the Palace of Westminster, has been controversial, with disquiet over the loss of green space in central London, the design of the scheme and security implications.

A main hurdle to supporters was a 1900 law protecting the small triangular Grade II-listed park, which led to the quashing of planning permission after a legal battle.

To overcome this, the Labour Government reintroduced the Bill, proposed by the previous Tory administration.

It will authorise expenditure on the construction, maintenance and operation of the memorial and learning centre, and also disapply sections of the 1900 Act, removing the legal block that has prevented the project from going ahead.

Leading lawyer and independent crossbencher Lord Carlile of Berriew said: “I have huge misgivings about why this is being put in Victoria Tower Gardens, what is being put there and whether it will be secure.”

I knew the project architect on this, a London based Israeli colleague and former friend, who died of turbocancer after the Covid vaccine.

I think this project is in entirely the wrong place, it will ruin one of the few green spaces near Westminster, Victoria Tower Gardens, and we simply do not need another empty virtue signaling gesture.

Also, it is clear that the real history of the Holocaust is not what we were told, whichever camp you are in, so this risks becoming an empty monument to fake history on what otherwise is a great green space to enjoy the outdoors in London.

It was a well known "secret" in my days as an Architecture & Urbanism lecturer that the entire urban redesign approach: enlarging sidewalks, cycle lanes, pedestrian zones, now 20 mph limits, "anti-terror attack" barriers etc. were done to increase congestion, to dissuade people from travelling in cars.

"THE Home Secretary has said she wants to create a “Panopticon” system of state surveillance.
Shabana Mahmood revealed that she wanted a system where “the eyes of the state can be on you at all times” while invoking an enduringly controversial proposal by the 18th-century philosopher Jeremy Bentham. 
In comments reported on Monday by The Telegraph, Mahmood said she wanted to use artificial intelligence for surveillance, as she proposed “Minority Report-style” policing.
“AI and technology can be transformative to the whole of the law and order space,” said the Home Secretary in an interview with former prime minister Tony Blair last month.
“When I was in justice, my ultimate vision for that part of the criminal justice system was to achieve, by means of AI and technology, what Jeremy Bentham tried to do with his Panopticon. That is that the eyes of the state can be on you at all times."

This cover of a Jimmie Vaughan song is in response to the UK government's requirement for initially company directors, and then presumably everyone else, in stages, to have a "One Login" Digital ID linked to their email addresses, which will tie them to all government services with one single digital email account linked to their biometric data: a "selfie", which could be used to implement a nation-wide digital social credit score in future, and to harvest data for surveillance by private corporations as well. It is overall a step further towards a dystopian digital tyranny, which if it goes too far, it can then no longer be stopped. The time to resist this path towards digital slavery is before it is fully implemented and tied to everyone's bank accounts. Biometric selfies passed onto AI powered facial recognition cameras throughout "Smart Cities" to remotely assess personal credit scores according to lifestyles and political beliefs, if not even religious beliefs, is where this all leads. "The first transport of political prisoners to Auschwitz consisted almost exclusively of Poles. It was for them that the camp was founded, and the majority of prisoners were Polish for the first two years. They died of starvation, brutal mistreatment, beating, and sickness, and were executed and killed in the gas chambers. They are customarily thought of as resistance fighters or the Polish elite, but many of them were in fact arrested at random during roundups on the city streets, or during various terror operations. Until the mass transports of Jews began arriving in 1942, Poles occupied the lowest rung in the prisoner hierarchy. Their treatment did not improve significantly later. It is estimated that around half of the 140 thousand Poles deported to Auschwitz were murdered. Those who survived until evacuation in late 1944 and at the beginning of 1945 were transferred to other German concentration camps. For the wartime Polish public, “Oświęcim” was a synonym for suffering and martyrdom. Many Polish families lost loved ones here."
