Ukraine launched the assault right after that Brennan meeting. The ensuing war killed 14,000+ people before Russia invaded in Feb. 2022.

Police have arrested nearly 2200 people during pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses across the United States in recent weeks, according to the Washington Post.

"Loblaw Companies reported $13.58 billion in first-quarter revenue — a 4.5 per cent increase from a year earlier — on Wednesday morning, the same day that a group of frustrated shoppers said they would begin a month-long boycott of the grocery retailer.

The company's quarterly profit was $459 million, marking a 9.8 per cent increase. Earnings per share were $1.72 on an adjusted basis, an increase of 11 per cent, the company said. It hiked its quarterly dividends to shareholders by 15 per cent.

Retail segment sales rose 4.4 per cent to $13.29 billion. Food retail sales were up by 3.4 per cent, while the company's drug retail sales under the Shoppers Drug Mart banner increased by four per cent."

Loblaw has become the face of food inflation in Canada — a fact that the company itself acknowledged in an X post — as the company continues to post record profits year-after-year while Canadians struggle to feed their families...

But the big scandal came in 2017, when Loblaw admitted to a price-fixing scheme to charge Canadians more for bread over a period of 16 years. In exchange for their cooperation with investigators, Loblaw and the now-defunct Weston Foods received immunity from prosecution."

▪︎During his visit to Kiev on 2 May, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron made another provocative statement, allowing the use of British weapons by the Ukrainian armed forces to launch attacks on Russian territory, including outside the Special Military Operation zone.

▪︎We consider this confession as confirmation of the UK's increasing direct involvement in the armed conflict in Ukraine.

▪︎The UK Government is persistently pursuing a course of escalation and expansion of geography of military actions.

▪︎Raising the stakes in the proxy confrontation with Russia has become an end in itself for London. At the same time, it seems that the British establishment is not interested at all in getting to the bottom of the true causes of the conflict.

▪︎It is symbolic that David Cameron's “blitz visit” to Kiev came on the tenth anniversary of the terrible events in the Trade Unions House in Odessa, where the nationalists, brought to power in Kiev by the West, and their accomplices burned 48 innocent people alive.

▪︎Giving the Zelensky regime a carte blanche to use British weapons for terrorist shelling of Russian cities deep inside our country, London, having dropped its masks, confirmed the obvious – that the remnants of Ukraine's economic and demographic potential, territorial control as well as statehood will be used exclusively in attempts to militarily and forcefully weaken Russia.

"All of this became rather embarrassing after the war so it was largely forgotten. But the affection on the part of many sectors of the US ruling class had for fascism was still in place. It merely took on new names. 
As a result, the lesson of the war, that the US should stand for freedom above all else while wholly rejecting fascism as a system, was largely buried. And generations have been taught to regard fascism as nothing but a quirky and failed system of the past, leaving the word as an insult to fling at in any way deemed reactionary or old-fashioned, which makes no sense. 
There is valuable literature on the topic and it bears reading. One book that is particularly insightful is The Vampire Economy by Günter Reimann, a financier in Germany who chronicled the dramatic changes to industrial structures under the Nazis. In a few short years, from 1933 to 1939, a nation of enterprise and small shopkeepers was converted to a corporate-dominated machine that gutted the middle class and cartelized industry in preparation for war. 
The book was published in 1939 before the invasion of Poland and the onset of Europe-wide war, and manages to convey the grim reality just before hell broke loose. On a personal note, I spoke to the author (real name: Hans Steinicke) briefly before he died, in order to gain permission to post the book, and he was astonished that anyone cared about it.
“The corruption in fascist countries arises inevitably from the reversal of the roles of the capitalist and the State as wielders of economic power,” wrote Reimann. 
The Nazis were not hostile to business as a whole but only opposed traditional, independent, family-owned, small businesses that offered nothing for purposes of nation-building and war planning. The crucial tool to make this happen was establishing the Nazi Party as the central regulator of all enterprises. The large businesses had the resources to comply and the wherewithal to develop good relations with political masters whereas the undercapitalized small businesses were squeezed to the point of extinction. You could make bank under Nazi rules provided you put first things first: regime before customers. " - Jeffrey A. Tucker
