Epistemic Injustice in "Evidence Based" Medicine

Why We Need to be the Experts in Ourselves

"Often, patient groups face epistemic injustice when they find things that work but which have not as yet been tested in clinical trials. The sum total of their real world findings are often dismissed as “anecdotal”. On the contrary, I have long believed that the evidential real world, lived experiences and cumulative wisdom of groups of people with a given diagnosis should count just as highly, or more so, than data collected in unrealistic, academic, or clinical settings.

The experiences of real people which don’t match the textbook understandings are often derided and dismissed using terms like “its all in your head”, or “psychosomatic” [which is a double injustice, both the use of this word to denigrate, but also the high-jacking of a term which encompasses the vital concept that the mind-body is unified].

There is another form of epistemic injustice: injustice towards science synthesis and autodidacts, in favour of specialism and expertise. When we find and discover for ourselves new connections by synthesizing the scientific literature, in which some parts of the big picture do not arise from the speciality journals directly related to a given medical condition, these new insights are often ignored by the specialists. This is because they tend to have little or no knowledge of the vast sea of the wider literature which is on the face of it is peripheral, but where relevant findings and important pieces of the jigsaw can still be found."

The illusion of evidence based medicine

"Medicine is largely dominated by a small number of very large pharmaceutical companies, that compete for market share, but are effectively united in their efforts to expanding that market.”

“Scientific progress is thwarted by the ownership of data and knowledge because industry suppresses negative trial results, fails to report adverse events, and does not share raw data with the academic research community.”

“Patients die because of the adverse impact of commercial interests on the research agenda, universities, and regulators. Hierarchical power structures, product loyalty, and public relations propaganda over scientific integrity.”

In Master And His Emissary, McGilchrist writes:

"The left hemisphere prefers the impersonal to the personal, and that tendency would in any case be instantiated in the fabric of a technologically driven and bureaucratically administered society. The impersonal would come to replace the personal. There would be a focus on material things at the expense of the living. Social cohesion, and the bonds between person and person, and just as importantly between person and place, the context in which each person belongs, would be neglected, perhaps actively disrupted, as both inconvenient and incomprehensible to the left hemisphere acting on its own. There would be a depersonalisation of the relationships between members of society, and in society’s relationship with its members. Exploitation rather than co-operation would be, explicitly or not, the default relationship between human individuals, and between humanity and the rest of the world."
"Resentment would lead to an emphasis on uniformity and equality, not as just one desirable to be balanced with others, but as the ultimate desirable, transcending all others. As a result individualities would be ironed out, and identification would be by categories: socioeconomic groups, races, sexes, and so on, which would also feel themselves to be implicitly or explicitly in competition with, resentful of, one another. Paranoia and lack of trust would come to be the pervading stance within society both between individuals, and between such groups, and would be the stance of government towards its people."
"Such a government would seek total control – it is an essential feature of the left hemisphere’s take on the world that it can grasp it and control it. Talk of liberty, which is an abstract ideal for the left hemisphere, would increase for Machiavellian reasons, but individual liberty would be curtailed. Panoptical control would become an end in itself, and constant CCTV monitoring, interception of private information and communication, the norm."
"Measures such as a DNA database would be introduced apparently in response to exceptional threats and exceptional circumstances, against which they would in reality be ineffective, their aim being to increase the power of the state and diminish the status of the individual. The concept of the individual depends on uniqueness; but according to the left hemisphere’s take on reality, individuals are simply interchangeable (‘equal’) parts of a mechanistic system, a system it needs to control in the interests of efficiency. Thus it would be expected that the state would not only take greater power directly, but play down individual responsibility, and the sense of individual responsibility would accordingly decline."
"... Anger and aggressive behaviour would become more evident in our social interactions, since of all emotional states these are the most highly characteristic of the left hemisphere, and would no longer be counterbalanced by the empathic skills of the right hemisphere. One would expect a loss of insight, coupled with an unwillingness to take responsibility, and this would reinforce the left hemisphere’s tendency to a perhaps dangerously unwarranted optimism. There would be a rise in intolerance and inflexibility, an unwillingness to change track or change one’s mind."
"... We would expect there to be a resentment of, and a deliberate undercutting of the sense of awe or wonder: Weber’s ‘disenchanted’ world. Religion would seem to be mere fantasy. The right hemisphere is drawn forward by exemplars of the qualities it values, where the left hemisphere is driven forward by a desire for power and control: one would expect, therefore, that there would develop an intolerance of, and a constant undercutting, ironising, or deconstructing of such exemplars, in both life and in art."
"... Above all, the word and the idea would come to dominate. Cultural history and tradition, and what can be learnt from the past, would be confidently dismissed in preparation for the systematic society of the future, put together by human will.

The body would come to be viewed as a machine, and the natural world as a heap of resource to be exploited."
'Batch-dependent safety of the BNT162b2 [Pfizer] mRNA COVID-19 vaccine'

"The observed variation in SAE [suspected adverse effects] & seriousness between BTN162b2 vaccine batches in this nationwide study was contrary to the expected homogenous rate & distribution of SAEs between batches.. the results suggest the existence of a batch-dependent safety signal for the BNT162b2 vaccine"

Vax Injury Test Case

Class Action Covid UK is now inviting those who have been harmed by any of the Covid vaccines to contact us at: hello@cacuk.uk

Please let people know about this.

📍WCH Issues Policy Brief to Counter the WHO's Monopolization of Global Health

https://worldcouncilforhealth.org/news/news-releases/monopolization-of-global-health-policy-brief/

The World Council for Health (WCH) works with different expert groups in the development of policy briefs to present research and recommendations to specialized and non-specialized audiences on a variety of essential issues. These documents serve to provide evidence-based policy advice to help readers make informed decisions.

An expert group in political science and law has prepared for release today an in-depth policy brief on the proposed amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005) and the WHO pandemic treaty/accord (WHO CA+).

These two complementary instruments of international law are currently being negotiated by the WHO, its member states and private stakeholders in relations with the supranational body for adoption by the World Health Assembly in May 2024. Some introduced IHR amendments could already be voted on in May 2023.

The newly released, in-depth policy brief showcases – with original references – the most important IHR amendments that have been proposed as well as central parts of the pandemic treaty (WHO CA+) draft. It explains why they differ from previous approaches to global public health in a significant way and require a swift, effective and robust response.

At the same time, legislative and educational measures are recommended via the policy brief to strengthen public health and to achieve better preparedness, efficient international collaboration and sharing with regards to global health emergencies while avoiding monopolization and ensuring the robustness of democratic ideals in times of crisis.

⚡️🇫🇷🔥French railroad workers and trade unionists protesting pension reforms occupied the Louis Vuitton headquarters group building in Paris.

More than a hundred people crowded outside the building of French manufacturer LVMH in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The activists managed to get inside.

There, they unfurled a banner with the words "Reform in the trash, we won't give up!" and then began chanting the slogan, "Strike, blockade, Macron, get out!" - and burning torches.

"What we've been living under is an order which calls itself feminist, but is more accurately understood as a new era, really the transhumanist era or what I've called in the book the cyborg era.

Which valorizes freedom above all else, specifically freedom underwritten by tech. We can trace a direct line from the sexual revolution's introduction of the birth control pill as really the first transhumanist technology, framed as the emancipation of women by upgrading our physiology in line with our desires.

I trace a direct line from that to the gender ideology that we see today.

The legal and political order which legitimizes and celebrates this bio-libertarianism is what I call cyborg theocracy." Mary Harrington

A Very Short Introduction to Aquinas | Church Life Journal | University of Notre Dame

"Evil comes in when we neglect some great good for the sake of some trivial good: when we sacrifice, say, being just and loving for the sake of being rich. Evil, for Aquinas, is a purely spiritual thing. It belongs to the world of minds and policies and decisions—and even there it is not a positive thing but a failure, a failure to want the good enough. The material world, however, is innocent, and more than innocent; it is the scintillating manifestation of the love of God.

All the more important, then, that we get our priorities right, and, to a certain extent, we can get them right if we keep our emotions in order and exercise ordinary good sense. We can try to use maps, but, in the end, ours is a journey without maps because it is a journey beyond the human horizon, a journey towards living with God himself. We are fortunate enough, lucky enough, to be personal friends of God—this good luck is what Thomas calls "grace."

For Aquinas, it is only heretics who dislike and despise the body. For him the Word of God to us is not, first of all, words in a book. It is the Word made flesh, through whose body and blood we are brought back to friendship with God, so that at the resurrection of the body the divine life will overflow into our bodies in eternity."
