Question for NRIs coming down to Kerala during Onam
What would you generally prefer to do other than spending time with family? Hardly get time to go to places around, want to know what else to do in and around city? Also other than visiting banks 🤣🤣

What is your opinion about TheLiverDoc aka Dr Cyriac Abby
He is a malayali doctor from Kottayam, highly active in twitter. Came again in the limelight with the recent controversies with Samantha. In my opinion ,I like majority of his work but he is entirely blindsided to ayurveda, which I may not completely align with. He completely dismisses Ayurveda, not even in the sceptical side. But I highly like rest of his social media posts debunking numerous myths, brand manipulations etc. He is one of the few who had courage to stand up against misinformation by Samantha. Any doctors here please share your views.

Family property dispute
Hey guys, would appreciate any advice on this situation.Little backstory first, I am a (24M) Malayali born and raised in the GCC where I currently live with my mom and dad. Back home in Kerala, my dad’s brother and his mother stay at our ancestral home. My dad is the sole breadwinner in our family, covering our expenses in the GCC and sending money monthly to his mother and brother back home. His brother has been unmarried and unemployed his entire life. For almost 30 years, they have relied on my dad for their daily living expenses and to maintain our ancestral home which my dad has also fully paid for its renovation 15 years ago and has since covered all maintenance and bills. Around 2019, my dad became fed up with his mother and brother as the house was in a terrible state despite all the money he sent for its maintenance. His brother also claimed he was saving the money my dad sent for my higher studies in a “separate account” but when my dad asked for proof, he refused to provide any and gave very unconvincing & half-assed explanations for the money's whereabouts. That was the tipping point for my dad and after that he refused to send any money and only sent it on emergencies. Onto the main story now.So in 2022, my dad insisted I pursue higher studies in Europe due to the bleak job market in the GCC. I was planning to work for a year or two to save money, but my dad advised me to go as soon as possible and said he planned to sell a plot of land back home to fund my studies. By January 2023, I was set to go. However, his brother insisted that he and their mother receive a fair share of the land sale proceeds since my dad had stopped sending them money. My dad agreed. The plot was eventually sold and my grandmother and uncle received their share. My dad unfortunately didn't receive his share and is still due. As of today, the buyer has not paid my dad.During my university admission process, I needed to show proof of funds for my stay. My dad asked his brother for bank statements after the property sale, but he didn’t provide them. My dad also asked for the balance of the “separate account" supposedly saved for my education, but his brother completely ghosted him. My dad was naturally upset and asked his mother why he couldn’t even get a statement. She asked him to stop asking because his brother was “harassing” her and kept shouting at her over it. Eventually, my dad had to take a loan to fund my studies. I only found out about this halfway through my studies in Europe, and I felt incredibly guilty. Because of this situation, I decided to return to my parents in the GCC after my degree, as I didn’t want to rely on my dad for money given the job situation there. I missed my graduation ceremony (I missed my bachelors ceremony also because of COVID) and I was really depressed about it.Currently, the buyer still hasn’t paid my dad. Whenever my dad asks, he always has an excuse like someone is sick or he is having a family emergency. My dad went to Kerala to confront him a month ago and found out that the buyer had transferred 15% of my dad's share to his brother. When my dad asked his brother about this, he claimed it was an emergency for fixing the house motor and pipeworks. The buyer promised to pay my dad soon, but it’s been almost two years. My dad has loans to clear, and it would be much easier if he received his share of the property sale. My mom is also stressed out as she has an FD against her name that needs to be cleared and because of that she has been considering working again despite being out of a job for 25+ years. My dad is overwhelmed and stressed with work and hasn’t been providing a clear answer on what to do. I am also looking for jobs but have had no luck so far. I worked at one place for 2 months but did not receive any contract or salary so I left.Would really appreciate any advice for an NRI who’s really lost at the moment. I also refuse to accept my dad’s mother and brother as family. F*** them.TL;DR: My dad, the sole…

What is a dish that we can safely eat in Kerala hotels without worrying about infection or poor hygiene?
I prefer idli's in hotel especially while travelling,(i really know that batter hygeine differs from place to place) it's steamed and less likely to be food infected compared to other dishes.

Family insurance in Kerala- any recommendations folks?
I have been looking at Manipal Cigna because of their option to add OP treatments and consumables. Another option suggested was TATA AIG and Starcare. Would appreciate if anyone with experience can share some feedback. Nandri!
