How program EOSIO in Windows? (dialogue seen in dev group this morning)
I found out that to be able to program in EOSIO I need Linux or Mac. Is there no way to get the environment working in Windows?
- You can use a Linux environment on windows, or a virtual machine in virtualbox
- Or rent a VPS in the cloud. VSC can work with a remote server via ssh.
- Or find some old hardware and install Ubuntu on it, some old laptop or a PC
I have a laptop
- if the contract is big enough, you may need 8GB RAM to compile it. It would take up all the space
I'll see what I can do, it's a shame because I wanted to learn EOSIO programming :(
Me and my team are using WSL 2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux) and have all installed eosio/leap and the CDT on it. Ubuntu 20.04 typically. Works fine! 👍🏻
The eosio-web-ide also always was a good alternative for devs with less good hardware (but enough Internet bandwidth). It's outdated but pretty sure still good enough to get started and learn the basics https://github.com/EOSIO/eosio-web-ide
For fast and easy access on windows I would still recommend EOS Studio (even it is not maintained anymore): https://www.eosstudio.io
A more advanced way is WSL on Windows, as some already recommended.

As not to waste time, nor "break" what has been working well, does anyone here also use Obsidian?
If so, I seek assistance by anyone aware of any "no display" actions as a text shortcut?
How activated and more importantly at this moment how get back normal text display!
I was about ready to post latest #Recaps Eden Member, at least up to the change over to new better Telegram option. I believe I happened to activate some keyboard shortcut making the entire chain of this #Recaps document garbled throughout.
Any assist would be appreciated before I venture outside of EOS for tech assist. 🙏🏻😅🐬
