Sundus Shalabi, 23, from Nur Shams Refugee Camp near Tulkarm, was eight months pregnant when she was forcibly displaced with her husband and two children at the start of the Israeli assault on the camp.

During their escape at dawn, they were targeted with direct gunfire, leaving Sundus and her husband critically injured. Locals managed to rescue the two children, but the Israeli army prevented Red Crescent teams from reaching the couple.

After a long delay, an ambulance transported them to Thabet Thabet Hospital, only to be stopped again by Israeli forces for half an hour.
Sundus and her unborn baby were pronounced dead, while her husband remains in critical condition.
