The World of Doctor Who (Dudley Simpson)
Mark Ayres
#1970s
Dudley Simpson was one of the most talented composers who ever worked on Doctor Who. Here is a (too!) short medley of his work from the early 1970s.

Mike Oldfield's third album, Ommadawn, is also really good. In a way it's less showy and more heartfelt than the famous Tubular Bells.

Stop Your Sobbing
The Pretenders
#1970s #rock

The Pretenders with their hit Stop Your Sobbing. I'd do anything for Chrissie Hynde, when she was young. Gorgeous.
In the Summertime
Mungo Jerry
#1970s

This song shouldn't be nearly as much fun as it is... In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry.
A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
Roxy Music
#1970s #Roxy

Roxy Music's cover of A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall. This was a regular on the car stereo when I was a child.

The Brothers Kraft with what must be the longest-ever version of their signature song, Autobahn. I had heard about this legendary performance, but was unaware until now that there was a recording of it - and good quality, too! Performed a few months after the album was released, this version clocks in at 40 minutes - 15 minutes longer than the album version.

Happy new year, everyone! And may Europe live forever!
