Call for Participation: exploration of sonic qualities of the underwater world of the Elbe river, by Polina Khatsenka
listen live to Moorlinse wetland, city edge, Berlin Buch: https://radio.aporee.org:8443/mobilemic1 The stream will continue a few more hours, until the battery gives up.
The area is threatened by a building project, which would have huge impact on wildlife and environment. For the ones in and near Berlin, there's a demonstration in Buch June 3, see also (in german only...) https://www.initiative-buch-am-sandhaus.de/event/demo-fuer-den-erhalt-moorwiese-moorlinse-und-bucher-wald/

As mentioned earlier, one of my favourite places, the Moorlinse area in Berlin Buch, is under pressure because of rigid development projects. Alternative plans are obviously not considered, as well as the concerns of local population.
This Saturday, 3rd of June, A demonstration will be held to bring the problem to the attention of a wider public. If you're in Berlin or have friends around, please share this info and join! Habitat destruction is one of the major drivers of the accelerating ecological crisis.

THERE was a depression over the Atlantic. It was travelling eastwards, towards an area of high pressure over Russia, and still showed no tendency to move northwards around it. The isotherms and isotheres were fulfilling their functions. The atmospheric temperature was in proper relation to the average annual temperature, the temperature of the coldest as well as of the hottest month, and the a-periodic monthly variation in temperature. The rising and setting of the sun and of the moon, the phases of the moon, Venus and Saturn’s rings, and many other important phenomena, were in accordance with the forecasts in the astronomical yearbooks. The vapour in the air was at its highest tension, and the moisture in the air was at its lowest. In short, to use an expression that describes the facts pretty satisfactorily, even though it is somewhat old-fashioned: it was a fine August day ...

Dear list/eners, next Tuesday you can listen to a lifestreamed walk around Westkreuz Berlin https://radio.aporee.org:8443/mobilemic23

Every year Soundtrackcity organises a soundwalk on 18 july on occasion of World Listening Day. Till now these walks were all in The Netherlands. This year I proposed to do a walk around Westkreuz, Berlin and stream the walk with one of the mobile mics of Radio Earth. We will start early in the morning, around 7:00 AM. When we feel we are finished walking the Mobile Mic will be placed somewhere in the area to continue streaming until the next morning.

Westkreuz as an infrastructural node has a complex genesis (keywords: AVUS, Speed, NS zeit, Reichsbahn, DDR, allotments, ICC). The highway interchange is one of the oldest and at the same time most trafficked in Germany. Westkreuz is a perfect testground to study the toxic influence of automotive mass transportation. The land is literally shredded by infrastructure into pieces which are barely accessible on foot. We have walked the area regularly in recent years and observed how it slowly changed.

This time we will try to access as much interspaces as possible and listen to how these spaces and its human and non-human dwellers cope and interact with the massive sound of passing motorised tin, steel and rubber.

Berlin, Monday morning, wind from north/west carries the sound of farmer's protest into my usually quiet backyard: http://locus.creacast.com:9001/berlin_kreuzkoelln.mp3
For the ones abroad: 1000s of farmers with their tractors are currently protesting against the cancellation of subsidies. They demand the cancellation of any cuts and the withdrawal of requirements, e.g. in environmental protection, livestock farming and the use of pesticides. Right-wing groups are trying, sometimes successfully, to instrumentalise the protests for their own agenda.
