Jordanian royal princess Dina Mired broke down in tears while speaking about the human tragedy in Gaza. She was speaking before the Regional Conference on Integrating Non-Communicable Disease Care into Humanitarian Responses, held in Amman, Jordan.
These people never imagined they would one day be standing in queues, waiting for food just to stay alive. In Arab tradition, hunger is associated with shame; the word hungry is even used derogatorily to describe corrupt elites who steal public wealth.

But today in Gaza, these once self-reliant and dignified people are now facing real, devastating hunger. They must now line up for free meals as Israel's war of hunger continues to take a heavy toll on the remaining Palestinian population. This is the heartbreaking reality Gaza lives with today.
