Eman Abu Nima, a young woman from Gaza, posted on Facebook that she was attending a mourning gathering for the husband of one of the resilient women. As is common, women surrounded her, showering her with words of patience, comfort, and prayers for steadfastness.
One woman said: "Be grateful you bid him farewell as a whole body. I had to say goodbye to my son, shattered in pieces, packed in a bag."
Another added: "Thank Allah you didn’t have to see him burnt. I buried my daughter as a charred body, she who once shone like the full moon in her beauty."
Another said: "At least you had a body to bury. My husband has been trapped under the rubble for six months now, and we haven't even found him."
Then another said quietly: "My brother is missing, we don’t know if he’s a prisoner or a martyr. My mother’s heart is torn apart from the longing."
This is what Gazans call the luxury of death in Gaza: To die a whole body.
