At least 212 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since the start of the Israeli assault in October 2023, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.

On Friday, journalist Saeed Abu Hassanein died from injuries he sustained in an Israeli attack on a media tent in southern Gaza earlier this month.

Gaza’s Government Media Office said that with the death of Saeed Abu Hassanein, the number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israel has risen to 212 since the genocide began in October 2023.

In a statement, the Office said he was injured when Israel targeted a journalists’ tent at Nasser Hospital, an attack that killed journalists Hilmi al-Faqawi and Ahmed Mansour and led today to the death of Hassanein, who succumbed to his wounds.

“The Government Media Office condemns in the strongest terms the targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation,” the statement added.

“We call on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all journalistic bodies in all countries of the world to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in the Gaza Strip,” it said.
