CBM Mini Fastener Manufacturing Expo 2025
Nikolay Biba participated in the CBM Mini Fastener Manufacturing Expo 2025, which took place on October 15 in West Bromwich, UK.
Organised by the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM), this specialist event is dedicated to the fastener industry and brings together manufacturers, suppliers, and industry leaders for a focused day of networking, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
At the event, Nikolay Biba presented our solutions for cold forming.
To simulate cold forming processes accurately, it is essential to use rheological models of materials that have been tested at cold forming temperatures (generally between 20Β°C and 400Β°C). To evaluate fracture defects in cold forming simulations, QForm UK allows the implementation of various fracture criteria, including CockcroftβLatham, V.L. Kolmogorov, Wierzbicki, Del, Johnson & Cook, McClintock, Rice & Tracy, V.A. Ogorodnikov, and Yu.G. Kalpin.
It is also very important to account for the elastic deformation of the tooling in cold forming processes, as it has a significant influence on the final shape of the forged part.
If you would like to learn more about the cold forming simulation solutions offered by QForm UK, feel free to contact us in the comments here or by email at market@qform3d.comπ¨

QForm UK Direct in action: CAE Technology showcases its innovative software at KSTP 2025
π¨ Our distributor, CAE Technology Inc., attended the annual fall conference 2025 KSTP (The Korean Society for Technology of Plasticity and Materials Processing).
At the conference, they presented a presentation titled βOptimal design of preforming and process analysis techniques for multi-material (ALβSTEEL) in composite forging processesβ, demonstrating the use of QForm UK Directπ¨ for preform forging.
With the recent rise of lightweight and high-strength automotive parts, multi-material composite forgings combining aluminum and steel are attracting increasing attention. However, forging two materials with different physical and mechanical properties can easily lead to issues such as joint defects and reduced formability.
To address these challenges, this study employed QForm UK Direct to automatically design an optimal preform shape that takes into account aluminumβs flow behavior. QForm UK was then used to perform composite forging simulations, proposing a simulation technique capable of analyzing maximum forming load, underfilling zones, and joint performance during the process.
As a result, the study presents an efficient procedure for designing preforms for multi-material composite forgings and introduces a simulation-based approach for verifying the preform geometry.
π¨ QForm UK Direct is a computer-aided system for automated design of bulk forging preforming dies. QForm UK Direct makes it possible to create a 3D model of the preforming dies for bulk forging processes and import the geometry into QForm UK to verify the result. QForm UK Direct contains full functionality of a CAD software and uses QForm UK's calculation algorithms to generate surfaces. It is possible to refine die geometry in QForm UK Direct: add fillets, holes, and other necessary technological elements. The created geometry can be used for both QForm UK simulation and CAM systems.
