languages :
is not really about understanding rn. it's more of practice, espc for essays !!

practice methods
- paper 1 : read good sample essays and see how can you improve from their writing. you need to be clear about your grammar rules. for essays like argumentative and discursive, you need to write maturely and have well thought-out, real world examples.
so it would be good to read current affairs

- paper 2 : past year papers. past year papers gives you exposure to a wide variety of qns and also with practice you will grasp the techniques much better.

- paper 3 : for oral,it's the same as english !! read lots of current affairs, make sure to stay updated !! esp for the second and last qn, do make sure to input personals examples or current affairs matters/statistics !! it's also impt to work on your pronunciation

Humanities - aside from memorising content, rmbing formats are impt. if you don't rmb the format, espc for sbq, you're gonna mess up so badly.

practice methods :
- active recall. this is one of the methods I use and it actually does work !!
- write notes !! when I mean write notes, I don't mean blindly copying the whole textbook 👎👎 instead, try and find the key points of each portion and summarise whatever is needed up !! so that you wouldn't waste so much time memorising redundant information
- reading sample ans. this allows you to see how people craft their answers and you can mimic their style to secure the highest mark if you're able too. also reading samples allows you to get a better understanding of how certain formats work for sbq !!

( there's a difference for hist and ss sbq !!
for history, the inferences usually want us to link back to your contextual info, so it is impt to have a good understanding of the topics !!
while for ss, more of the inferences would link back to the source, so if you have a general understanding its fine !! )
eng lesson with kenz, episode 3.

can you start your sentences with CONJUNCTIONS?

conjunctions like “and” and “but”- or other similar conjunctions are often used at the beginning of their sentences in their speech (dialogue), and is often misinterpreted into their writing in the wrong sentence structure.

but you may encounter some people who mistakenly believe that starting a sentence with a conjunction is an error.

eg.
many people have a fear of insects. but the fear of heights is also very common.

if you seperate a sentence like this (with a period/ fullstop), it gives a dramatic way to emphasise the contrast introduced by “but”.

not everyone likes this style of writing though, so it is also possible to connect both of these with a comma

eg.
many people have a fear of insects, but the fear of heights is also very common.

however, some people dislike seeing the conjunctions “or”, “nor”, and “yet” at the beginning of a sentence.

even though it may not be an error in sentence structure and language, starting sentences with these words does sometimes seem a little melodramatic

eg.
they have an upcoming exam soon . yet they still haven’t studied for it despite it being 30% of their grade.

you can phrase it like this

eg.
they have an upcoming exam soon , yet they still haven’t studied for it despite it being 30% of their grade.

good morning my lovely people (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

i'll be bringing back little messages every few mornings if i can help it! i haven't been doing so recently and i know that we've been having rough days lately... or even a year or few

but it's okay
we'll get through this together! i know that to many people, productivity looks like a ton of worksheets, assignments and studying sessions done and preferably for long hours; you may be right about that

but it's also just as productive to take breaks in between studying sessions, taking care of ourselves and realising it's okay to take a step back/going at our own pacing

regardless of how much work we've gotten done or how often we've been studying, i am very proud of you for trying your best :] good job friend!!

hey! if you still have a mountain load of homework due, and you're feeling super stressed out.. i think you need to take a day off – a day completely just to rest, reenergize and maybe even plan how you can prioritize and finish them (it doesn't have to be all!)

think about it, i don't think teachers would expect everyone to complete everything in a month

and even if they do, they also tend to forget that we use this break to rest up and catch up on studies/sleep as much as possible

i totally get it!
think about your weak subjects, maybe it's best to focus on those over those that you're likely stronger in

then at least you'd get some practice in, all the while finishing the homework for them

i'll drop tips on how i planned my schedule later on in hopes of helping some of you! ˙ᵕ˙

jiayous!!! i know you can do this!! it's gonna be a long, crazy tiring journey but we will make it

i'll always be proud of you
love, memo ♡
