Since early this year, nearly 15,000 children in Gaza have been diagnosed with acute malnutrition, according to the UN. Out of 239,580 children screened since mid-January, 14,750 were found malnourished, with 3,288 cases being severe. Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, supported by WHO, is treating many of these children, some of whom are in critical condition.

The hospital director warned that complications from malnutrition could lead to death without proper care. The situation has worsened due to Israel's intensified siege and attacks on Gaza, leading to severe food shortages and pushing the territory to the brink of famine. The conflict has resulted in over 40,405 deaths, and South Africa has taken Israel to the International Court of Justice, accusing it of genocide.
