Some notes on having a Portuguese bank account:
- Almost impossible to open on your own if you’re from outside of Europe
- Took me months to open with a help pf lawyers
- Took months to arrive to my address abroad (can’t send to a Portuguese address unless you pay 15-20 EUR per mail)
- Blocks all transfers and operations in online bank until you sign a paper no one knows in any bank branch
- Processing this paper takes a couple of weeks to unlock transfers
- Contactless limit is 50 EUR a day and there is no indication of that anywhere
- Security makes it crazy complicated to get into online banking
- UI/UX in online banking and apps is years behind, if not a decade
- You can pay any bill, purchase, transfer money inside Portugal - all through Multibanco (an ATM)
