The Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced that the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has today begun maintenance work on its gas pipeline from Nigeria to Ghana, which is expected to be completed on 2nd March 2025.
WAPCo has stated that the gas supply to thermal plants in Tema from Nigeria, along with gas transportation via reverse flow from Takoradi to Tema, will be reduced to facilitate replacement and cleaning of the pipeline. However, the energy stakeholders have secured volumes of liquid fuel to sustain operations during the maintenance period.

Cholera is spreading in my area because NDC youth locked up toilets, saying their party is in power—Afenyo-Markin
Minority Leader and MP for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has blamed the rising cholera cases in his constituency on the closure of public toilets.
According to him, all public toilets in Efutu’s Nshorna area have been locked, leaving residents with no proper place to ease themselves. This, he says, has worsened the sanitation crisis and fueled the spread of the disease.
"If a party comes into government and somebody thinks, ‘Let me go and lock up the toilet,’ when there is a cholera outbreak, it doesn’t look at party colours," he stated.
He also questioned why Efutu, which has recorded 18 cases, is still waiting for vaccination approval while areas with fewer cases, like Agona West (6 cases), are already receiving the vaccine.
Afenyo-Markin is calling for immediate action to reopen the toilets and prioritize vaccinations to prevent further spread.

Don't mind Mahama, we left a very good economy for him - Former Deputy Finance Minister Stephen Amoah
Nhyiaeso MP and former Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah, has dismissed John Mahama’s recent critique of the Akufo-Addo administration’s economic management, calling it misleading.
“The GDP growth that President Mahama left for Nana Addo’s government was 3.4 percent.
"When we were leaving office, it was 6.3 percent—almost twice what he left,” he stated.
Amoah argued that under NPP, agriculture grew from 2.7% to 4.5%, while the industrial sector saw an increase from 4.3% to 8.9%.
He challenged the NDC to present official data from the Ghana Statistical Service and Bank of Ghana to support their claims.
His comments come after Mahama, speaking at a National Tripartite Committee meeting, strongly criticized the previous government's economic policies.
