🇫🇷👮❗️ Last night (April 15), a series of coordinated attacks targeted at least nine prisons and related facilities across France, involving gunfire and arson.

➡️ These incidents are believed to be a response to the French government’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking.

➡️ In Toulon, assailants fired approximately 15 rounds from an automatic weapon at the prison’s main entrance.

➡️ Elsewhere, vehicles were set ablaze outside prisons in Villepinte, Nanterre, Aix-en-Provence, Valence, and Marseille. The National School of Prison Administration in Agen also experienced arson attacks.

➡️ A group identifying itself as “Défense des Prisonniers Français” (Defense of French Prisoners) claimed responsibility, with their initials “DDPF” spray-painted at several sites .

➡️ French authorities have launched a terrorism-related investigation, citing the organized nature of the attacks and their aim to intimidate prison staff and disrupt public order.
