Nebraska under water: Two killed as record levels of flooding break through dams, turn towns into islands, and force people onto their rooftops to be rescued as 2,600 are urged to evacuate ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’ง
Spring flooding could be 'unprecedented' with 200 million Americans at risk.
Spring flooding has already been disastrous, and it's likely to get worse, federal forecasters announced Thursday. Floods could reach "unprecedented" and "potentially historic" levels.
Almost the entire eastern two-thirds of the nation should see flooding this spring, National Weather Service deputy director Mary Erickson said at a news conference on Thursday. Some 25 states are forecast to see "moderate" to "major" flooding, the weather service said.
The Midwest floods are โ€œa preview of what we expect throughout the rest of the spring,โ€ she said. "The flooding this year could be worse than what we have seen in previous years ... even worse than the historic floods we saw in 1993 and 2011," Erickson added.
The deadly, destructive flooding that began last week from Minnesota to Missouri has killed at least four people, caused more than $1.5 billion in estimated losses and damages and destroyed more than 2,000 homes. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง

When the dramatic footage, which was recorded in Batley, West Yorkshire, was uploaded on to Facebook, it sparked a debate as to who was to blame. While it may seem to be a brutal attack on a helpless elderly, people who claim to be witnesses have leaped to the young man's defence and claimed that he had been provoked. And a photograph posted in the comments shows the young man with red marks around his neck suggesting that the older man forcefully grabbed him. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This is the shocking moment a female delivery driver is run over by her own vehicle after it was stolen while she was on her rounds. The woman was making a round of deliveries when the yob jumped in her car and tried to drive away. She threw herself onto the bonnet of the Vauxhall Agila in a bid to stop him escaping, and CCTV footage shows her being carried along the road. But the thief refused to stop and weaved the car down the road, speeding up and throwing the woman to the ground when she finally lost her grip. The car appears to run over her lower half as it speeds around the corner and out of sight in Wigan, Greater Manchester on March 9. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

New Zealand fell silent on Friday afternoon during a poignant memorial service exactly a week after the Christchurch terror attack. Hundreds of Muslims and non-Muslims gathered in the city's Hagley Park opposite the Al Noor mosque where worshipers were gunned down. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, wearing a black and gold headscarf in solidarity with the Islamic faith, briefly addressed the emotional gathering. 'New Zealand mourns with you. We are one,' she said. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Homeless people living in RVs has become a crisis across California, from the suburban streets of Los Angeles (main) to lines near Stanford University in Palo Alto (top, bottom right). Californians such as Los Angeles man Joe (inset) are living in the vehicles for a variety of reasons; they run the gamut from families who can no longer afford their neighborhood but want to keep their children in local schools to working professionals who simply find rents too high. The scale of the situation is so vast that organizations and non-profits such as SafeParkingLA have sprung up to identify and organize safe, guarded lots where homeless people can park their RVs, camper vans and other vehicles to sleep. The number of homeless living in RVs is disputed, however, because they are often missed in counts, do not access separate homeless services or do not consider themselves homeless at all.๐Ÿ˜ฑ
