A wrong-way head-on crash injured three people in Athens County, Ohio, including an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, troopers said.

The crash occurred occurred just before midnight on Saturday on U.S. Route 50 in Athens Township, according to a press release from Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Investigators said 47-year-old Christopher Wayne Barker was traveling east in the westbound lane on Route 50, resulting in a head-on crash with Trooper Todd Wallingford. Barker's car then continued on a crashed into another car driven by 19-year-old Xander Michael Knore.

Troopers said all three men were wearing their seatbelts.

All three men suffered varying degrees of injuries, according to troopers. Barker and Wallingford were both taken to OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital for their injuries. Troopers said Barker suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while Wallingford was treated and later released, only suffering minor injuries. OSHP said Knore was treated at the scene for a minor injury and released.

A Parma Police K9 officer who died several months after he retired, was remembered at a memorial service Saturday at Ripepi & Sons Funeral Home.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that K9 Max will be laid to rest tomorrow, October 25th, 2025. K9 Max has a large tumor/mass in his chest cavity, causing additional medical and mobility complications. K9 Officer Max served the Parma community from 8/26/2016 to 5/5/2025, alongside his handler Officer J. Campana. Upon retirement, Max stayed with the Campana family, where his loyalty, devotion, and love continued. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Campana family as they navigate the loss of a beloved family member.

We honor our K9 hero who served with dedication and courage. Rest peacefully now. Your legacy and bravery will forever be in our hearts.💙

Atlanta: Officer Involved Shooting - 2045 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW

Preliminary Statement: On October 27th, 2025, at approximately 6:13PM, officers responded to the Family Dollar located at 2045 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW in reference to a criminal trespass. Upon arrival, the responding officer encountered an adult male.

The responding officer attempted to question the male but the male fled from the location on foot and a foot chase ensued. The officer was able to locate the suspect at a nearby building at 2095 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW. The preliminary investigation indicates that the male came toward the officer and the officer subsequently engaged the suspect in gunfire.

The suspect was struck by the gunfire and fled on foot to 2080 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW where he was given medical aid on scene by medical personnel and was later transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Seconds later, his bodycam captured the desperate scene: an 18-month-old boy, limp and lifeless on the ground. Mondesir dropped everything, lifted the child, and began CPR. For seven relentless minutes, he pressed and breathed, refusing to stop. Family members sobbed, bystanders prayed—the weight of hope sat on his shoulders alone.

Then an off-duty nurse appeared. Side by side, she and Mondesir worked in perfect rhythm, strangers united in one mission. And then—against all odds—the boy breathed. His chest rose, his lips found color again, and the cries of fear turned into cries of joy.

Doctors later confirmed it: their persistence saved his life. Mondesir humbly called it his duty. But for that family, he became more than an officer. He became their hero.💙
