AASTU and STEM Synergy Launch Girls’ STEM Camp to Empower Secondary School Students

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University in collaboration with STEM Synergy Inc., has officially launched a Girls’ STEM Camp aimed at equipping secondary school students with essential skills in digital technologies, electronics, and artificial intelligence.
The educational program was formally launched by Dr. Abraham Debebe, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at AASTU. During the launching ceremony, Dr. Abraham highlighted the importance of the training program, emphasizing that the selected students are fortunate to receive this opportunity and encouraging them to use it responsibly and with dedication to maximize its benefits.

Ethio Robo Robotics Education and Competition Center Conducted Orientation and Training for AASTU Students,

Ethio Robo Robotics Education and Competition Center successfully conducted an orientation session and training for students of Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) to prepare them for participation in the 2026 African Robotics Championship (ARC).
The orientation was designed to form competitive robotics teams at AASTU that will compete with other institutions and represent Ethiopia at the African Robotics Championship 2026. The training provided essential guidance to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required for effective participation in the championship.

የኢትዮጵያ ፌዴራላዊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሪፐብሊክ ከተማና መሠረተ ልማት ሚኒስቴር እና አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በመንግሥት አገልግሎትና አስተዳደር ሪፎርም ትግበራ ላይ በጋራ ለመስራት የሚያችለቸውን የመግባቢያ ስምምነት (MoU) ተፈራረሙ።
ስምምነቱ በዘርፉ ውስጥ የመንግሥት አገልግሎትና አስተዳደር ሪፎርም ዋነኛ ተግባር የሆነውን የመንግሥት ሠራተኞች የብቃት ምዘናና ማረጋገጫ ሥርዓት ለመገንባት የሚያስፈልጉ ቴክኒካል ሥራዎችን በጋራና በሀገራዊ ኃላፊነት መንፈስ ለመፈጸም የተደረገ ነው።
ይህ ትብብር በመንግሥት አገልግሎትና አስተዳደር ሪፎርም የፖሊሲ አምዶች ስር የተቀመጠውን “የመንግሥት ሠራተኞች የብቃት ምዘናና ማረጋገጫ ሥርዓት መገንባትና የማስፈጸም አቅምን ማሳደግ” (የፖሊሲ አምድ 3) ግብ ለማሳካት ትኩርት ያደረገ ነው።
በዚህ መሠረት የሥርዓተ-ሥልጠና (Curriculum) ቀረጻ፣ የሞጁል ዝግጅት፣ የብቃት ምዘና ብሉ-ፕሪንትና የፈተና ጥያቄዎች ዝግጅት፣ እንዲሁም የምዘና ውጤት ማሳወቅ ሥራዎች በሚቀጥሉት አራት ወራት ውስጥ እንዲጠናቀቁ ታቅዷል።
እነዚህን ተግባራት በስኬት ለማከናወንና በምዘናው ውጤት መሠረት ተከታታይ የአቅም ግንባታ መርሐ-ግብሮችን ለመተግበር፣ የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የተለያዩ ኮሌጆችና የትምህርት ክፍሎች አስፈላጊውን ሙያዊ ድጋፍና አገልግሎት እንዲሰጡ የሚያስችል ስምምነት መሆኑ ተገልጿል።
Public Seminar on Rethinking Higher Education Autonomy in Ethiopia

The college of social science and humanities at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University organized a public seminar titled “Autonomy’s Epistemic Edge: Rethinking Higher Education Reform in Ethiopia.” The seminar was organized by the Research and Technology Transfer Office in collaboration with the College of Social Science and Humanities.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Biruk Shewadeg, who presented a critical and thought-provoking analysis of Ethiopia’s ongoing higher education reform, with particular emphasis on the epistemic dimension of university autonomy. The event brought together academic staff and researchers fostering a rich intellectual discussion on the future direction of Ethiopian higher education.

AASTU Signs MoU with German Organization EUSMS

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EUSMS, a German non-profit organization (gGmbH) engaged in social entrepreneurship, development cooperation, and education, with a strong operational focus on Africa.
As part of the partnership engagement, Mr. Kerim Bilgic, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EUSMS, visited AASTU and held fruitful discussions with the University President, Dr. Dereje Engida, on potential areas of collaboration.
The MoU aims to promote cooperation in key priority areas, including social and sustainable entrepreneurship, capacity building and training, women’s empowerment and social inclusion, as well as research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
AASTU STEM Center Graduates 2nd Round of STEM Education Students

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University STEM Center has successfully graduated its second-round batch of STEM education students. The Center provides STEM training for primary and secondary school students with the aim of enhancing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The STEM Center offers training from Level 0 to Level 3 in different batches. For the 2018 E.C. budget year, students in the second-round batch received intensive training for eight weeks across various levels, where they acquired essential knowledge and practical skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
In this round, a total of 220 students were registered, out of which 207 successfully completed the program and received certificates.
