Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) has joined hands with DALA Africa Group to drive innovation and investment in smart and sustainable city technologies across Africa.
The partnership will combine AASTU’s academic expertise with DALA’s industry networks to advance cutting-edge research, executive training, real-world pilot projects, and policy advocacy.

Seminar held , September 17/2025,
The AI and Robotics Center of Excellence in AASTU hosted a public seminar titled “Beyond Transformers and LLMs: The Evolution of Large AI Models and What Comes Next?” presented by Harvard-educated computational scientist Prof. Patrick Ohiomoba.
In his talk, Prof. Ohiomoba traced the rapid evolution of AI models, including the emergence of the transformer architecture and Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, PaLM, and LLaMA. He explored how these architectures have scaled, adapted, and become more efficient, leading to the creation of local LLMs that can operate on consumer-grade hardware.
The seminar also emphasized on the growing importance of multimodal models, which integrate text, vision, and audio to tackle complex tasks across various data types. Additionally, it examined broader trends in the development of large models, discussing the trade-offs between centralized and decentralized AI.

አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በማህበረሰብ አሳታፊነት ዳይሬክቶሬት  በኩል ከሚሰራቸው  ስራዎች መካከል አንዱ በበጋ እና በክረምት መርሃ-ግብር  ለአንደኛ እና ለሁለተኛ ደረጃ ት/ቤት ተማሪዎች  የሳይንስ ፣ ቴክኖሎጂ፣  ምህንድስና እና ሂሳብ ትምህርት እየሰጠ ይገኛል ፡፡
ከዚህ ጋር ተያይዞ በክረምት መርሃ ግብር ከደረጃ 0 እስከ ደረጃ 3 በተለያዩ ዙሮች ታዳጊ ህጻናት የሳይንስ ባህልን በማዳበር የፈጠራ ችሎታቸውን እንዲያሳድጉ የሚረዳ የሳይንስ ፣ ቴክኖሎጂ ፣ ምህንድስና እና ሂሳብ (STEM) ሲከታተሉ ቆይተዋል፡፡
በዚህም ለተከታታይ 6 ሳምንታት ከሰኞ እስከ አርብ ሲሰጥ የቆየው የክረምት  የሳይንስ፣  ቴክኖሎጂ ፣ ምህንድስና እና ሂሳብ ትምህርት መስከረም 10/2018 ዓ.ም ተጠናቋል፡፡ በዚህ መርሃ-ግብር በአራቱም ደረጃዎች(0-3) ትምህርታቸውን በአግባቡ ለአጠናቀቁ 518 ተማሪዎች የምስክር ወረቀት ተበርክቶላቸዋል፡፡
