According to North Korean media, an attempt to launch the second North Korean destroyer at the Chongjin shipyard ended in an accident — the parallel movement of the trolleys was disrupted, causing the stern of the ship to prematurely slip off and settle, which damaged the hull:
“During the destroyer’s launch, a serious accident occurred: due to the carelessness of the team and mishandling of the process, the parallel movement of the trolleys was violated. As a result, the launching carriage under the ship’s stern prematurely slipped off its track and settled, upsetting the ship’s balance and causing damage to the hull, which developed holes in several sections, while the bow of the ship failed to leave the slipway.
