In general, India has a more modern military than Pakistan.

Here’s why:
• Defense Budget: India spends 5–6 times more on defense than Pakistan. In 2024, India’s defense budget is about $75 billion, while Pakistan’s is around $10–11 billion.
• Military Equipment: India is actively modernizing its forces, purchasing advanced equipment like French Rafale fighter jets, American P-8 Poseidon aircraft, aircraft carriers, and expanding its missile forces and air defense systems. Pakistan mainly relies on Chinese equipment (such as the JF-17 fighter) and older American systems.
• Navy: India has one of the largest navies in Asia, operating aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. Pakistan’s navy is much smaller and less advanced.
• Nuclear Weapons: Both countries have nuclear weapons, but India has a more developed and diversified system of delivery, including long-range ballistic missiles.
• Domestic Production: India produces much of its own military equipment, including tanks (Arjun), fighter jets (Tejas), and warships. Pakistan mainly imports or assembles equipment from foreign suppliers, especially China.

Summary:
India surpasses Pakistan in military size, technology, and modernization. However, Pakistan relies on its nuclear deterrent and strong military ties with China to balance the situation.

Judging on Ukrainian experience the larger military doesn’t mean imminent victory.
