It is most likely that the “Easter truce” was declared for Donald Trump, rather than to actually stop the fighting—just like the recent “infrastructure truce.”
Vladimir Putin even mentioned him in his speech about halting hostilities for Easter, clearly not by accident, stating that Kyiv had violated the moratorium on strikes against Russian energy facilities more than 100 times.
Given that the suddenly announced truce is supposed to begin literally within an hour and last only two days, violations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are practically inevitable—even if they wanted to stop shooting. These violations will be used as yet another argument by the U.S. that Ukraine does not want peace, but only to continue the war.
We find the version suggesting that a sudden two-day truce without control mechanisms or separation of forces could lead to a broader and longer-term ceasefire to be unconvincing. This truce should not be viewed as a genuine attempt to unilaterally stop hostilities.

Moreover, Russia was then regrouping near Bakhmut and exactly by the morning of January 6 began an assault on Soledar, which was occupied by the end of the following week.
