A court has found French far-right National Rally party leader Marine Le Pen guilty of embezzlement of public funds.
Marine Le Pen, 8 MEPs and 12 aides were found guilty of embezzling €2.9 million between 2004 and 2016.
Le Pen was sentenced to 4 years in prison, two of which were suspended, in the form of house arrest with an electronic bracelet, as well as a fine of €100,000 and a 5-year ban from holding elected office with immediate effect.
This will prevent her from running for president in 2027.
