Ukraine has received the latest mobile self-propelled howitzer Hawkeye from the American defense company AM General, according to Mike Evans, program director of Soft Recoil Technologies and Fires Programs.

The Hawkeye system was delivered to Ukraine at the end of April and was deployed on the battlefield by early May. It is currently being tested in real combat conditions with actual targets.

The 2-CT Hawkeye Mobile Howitzer System is based on the HMMWV chassis and is equipped with a 105-mm cannon and a digital fire control system. It has a firing rate of eight shots in the first three minutes, a range of 11.6 km with conventional shells, and up to 19.5 km with rocket-assisted shells. The system can be deployed in just 90 seconds.

Hawkeye is designed for "hit and run" tactics, allowing for rapid shelling of enemy positions followed by swift relocation to new positions.
