🔹 They are colorless in thin sections under natural light.
🔹 Their relief is weak to moderate and negative.
🔹 Their birefringence is very weak to weak (ranging from 0 to 0.015).
🔹 The interference color is white, gray to pale yellow, grade 1.
🔹 They often exhibit complete cleavage parallel to the {110} or {010} planes.
🔹 Extinction in most of them is direct. In their cross sections, symmetrical extinction is often observed.
🔹 The elongation sign is positive in some and negative in others.
🔹 Identification of their types is usually done using X-rays.
