🇮🇷 - Yesterday, a "F-4E Phantom II" Fighter Jet of the IRIAF's "31st" Tactical Fighter Squadron, piloted by Second Lieutenant Colonel Mehdi Firouzmand & Captain Erfan Hajiazizi was misidentified. engaged with and shot down by a surface-to-air missile by the IRGCAF in a missile base in Kermanshah, while patrolling western Iran.

The pilots attempted a belly landing, however the severe damage sustained had also affected the hydraulic system and the landing gear. The front seat pilot was killed, while the rear seat member had ejected and survived.

The IRGC has denied responsibility of the event.

The IRIAF has suspended all aerial patrol operations in western Iran.

The operation was quickly suppressed by Ukrainian counter-assaults of Anti-Air and artillery strikes, forcing the Russians to cancel "Il-76" reinforcements directly into the airport and had instead switched to a ground assault towards the airport from Belarus.
