#PeoplesHistory | On October 8th, people across the world celebrate the Day of the Heroic Guerrillero to honor Che Guevara.
On a day like today in 1967, the Cuban-Argentine revolutionary leader, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, was captured by the CIA-backed Bolivian army near La Higuera in Bolivia.
Guevara was tortured and killed the very next day, as the Bolivian right-wing government sought to crush the revolutionary wave which threatened to overturn the status quo on the continent.

Pro-Palestine organizers credit “how the movement for Palestine has intervened” for seismic shift in public opinion.
Although the claims of antisemitism have been levied against the pro-Palestine movement, especially by the US government, Jewish people in the US have vastly shifted their stance against Israeli action in Palestine. According to a poll conducted by the Washington Post, 61% of surveyed Jewish people in the US believe Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza, and 39% said Israel is guilty of genocide.

Protesters are demanding an end to the government with the highest disapproval rating on the entire continent. Boluarte, however, says she will not resign.
It has now been three weeks in a row that thousands of Peruvians have taken to the streets to demand an end to the proposed pension reform, corruption, insecurity, and police abuse.
But, as several analysts have pointed out, the protests are no longer focused solely on specific issues, but on raising the demand for an end to the Boluarte government. Boluarte took office after the overthrow of then-President Pedro Castillo, and led to the deaths of more than 60 Peruvians following massive protests between 2022 and 2023.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned the United States against fresh Israeli attempts to drag them into yet another war with Iran by lying about his country’s defense capabilities, as it did earlier this year in June.
In June, with lies about Iran’s nuclear program, Israel “managed to deceive the US into attacking the Iranian people. With the failure of that action Israel is now trying to make an imaginary threat out of our defense capabilities” Araghchi claimed in a post on X.

The Romania-focused “Elbit Out!” campaign launched on October 5 in Bucharest, with a public discussion on the government’s continued complicity with the genocide in Palestine, followed by a march through the capital.
The campaign seeks to highlight the government’s obligation to uphold international law and stop Israel’s crimes against humanity, joining a wave of worker-led and grassroots actions pushing European governments to act against the genocide and protect the kidnapped volunteers of the Global Sumud Flotilla.

🇵🇸 The people of Gaza celebrate the ceasefire announcement.

🇵🇸 Following the announcement of the ceasefire, Palestinians in Gaza have flooded the streets, singing, chanting and praying in gratitude. However, their celebrations have been bittersweet due to their huge humanitarian losses. Many also fear that Israel may not commit to permanently ending the war, especially as reports indicated that Israel launched a number of attacks on some areas of Gaza after the agreement was announced by Trump.
Trump hailed the long awaited agreement, though many pointed out that reaching an agreement had been a central promise of his election campaign, so this outcome was much delayed. On the contrary, since he returned to office, Israel resumed its genocidal aggression on Gaza with even more fervor in March 2025 – two months after he was re-elected as a president. Since then, the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza multiplied month after month.
The official death toll has jumped from about 47,000, when the first ceasefire came into effect in January 2025, to over 67,200 since the genocide resumed. Beginning on March 18, 2025, the US essentially gave Israel a green light to do what it wanted until this Wednesday, when Trump appeared on his Truth Social account, boasting about his alleged “Peace Plan” achievement.

#PeoplesHistory | Today, on the anniversary of his assassination, we remember Comandante Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
Che was born in Argentina, but was a true internationalist in action. Traveling around Latin America, he saw the reality of the continent subjugated by colonialism and exploited by capitalism.
Che joined the revolutionary struggle in Cuba, and later those in The Congo and Bolivia. He was essential in the triumphant revolution in Cuba against the US-funded and backed Batista dictatorship. In Cuba and after the triumph, Che was a key leader in the process of building a permanent revolutionary process for the construction of socialism.
Hasta la victoria siempre, comandante Che Guevara.

Two years on, the genocide continues in full view of the world. Beyond killing, the campaign has systematically degraded human dignity through forced displacement, restricted aid, and denial of medical care. Israel’s aim is clear: to render Gaza uninhabitable, forcing emigration and erasing the possibility of normal life. Yet the occupation’s plan depends on Gazans’ acquiescence and the complicity of states enabling it. Without these, the project remains incomplete.
