As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly, thousands of pro-Palestine protesters marched only a few blocks away to demand his arrest. Demonstrators first rallied in Times Square, hearing from a variety of speakers from organizations across the pro-Palestine and anti-war movement, then the crowd marched west to the UN headquarters.
Netanyahu gave his second UNGA address since the beginning of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza on the morning of September 26.
“Netanyahu is inside the UN right now. Having just spoken to a mostly empty room about Israel’s war on Gaza,” said Palestinian Youth Movement organizer Nidaa Lafi. “Rest assured Netanyahu, everywhere you go, you will be met with empty rooms.”

China declared it will voluntarily reduce its economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 7% to 10% from its peak level by 2035, in its attempts to fulfill the requirements of the Paris Agreement. It asked other countries to also “step up actions to realize the beautiful vision of harmony between man and nature and preserve planet earth.”
The announcement was made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his virtual address to the United Nations Climate Summit, which was held alongside the ongoing UNGA summit in New York on Wednesday, September 24.
The summit was hosted by UN Secretary General António Guterres along with Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva. Brazil is the host of the next COP30 conference in November.
This is the first commitment of its kind made by China, which is now the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases at the global forum – mainly due to its massive population of 1.4 billion and decades of rapid industrialization. The commitment renews hope in the success of the world’s attempts to fight climate change.

While the Palestinian Authority welcomed the recognition, the Palestinian grassroots faulted the move as conditional, symbolic, unjust, and took dozens of thousands of lives to be announced.
A handful of Western countries announced their recognition of a Palestinian State on Sunday, September 21, including the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal.
France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, and Andorra also joined the move on Monday, September 22, followed by the Republic of San Marino, which announced its recognition on Tuesday September 23.

Across East Africa, solidarity with the people of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is gaining momentum, as activists, intellectuals, and workers draw inspiration from the revolutionary path being charted by Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
On September 19, 2025, a forum was convened in Nairobi by the Ngong Social Justice Center Revolutionary Socialist League (RSL) and Ukombozi Library to commemorate the second anniversary of the AES. The event’s theme was “Two Years on: Looking At the Alliance of the Sahel”.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, spoke of the death of Assata Shakur simply, “We fulfilled our duty.” This humble statement encapsulated four decades of unwavering commitment by the Cuban state to protect one of the United States’ most hunted revolutionaries and let her live her life as a free woman.
Assata Shakur’s flight and exile were not just a physical escape from an unjust and violent system; they were a political and ideological act. Her unwavering belief in a socialist future, a world free from the exploitative forces of capitalism, imperialism, and racism, was what made her a profound threat to the US establishment.

On September 30, the Ministry of Health in Gaza warned of the “disastrous challenges faced by medical teams due to the shortage of medicines and consumables,” stressing that Israel’s actions are having devastating consequences for those injured.
