The resignation of Nepali Prime Minister KP Oli, amid massive youth-driven protests has raised many questions for the people of Nepal and its once united Left. While many have accused the uprising about merely being in response to a social media ban, the roots are much deeper.

Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building at the center of the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, September 9, where senior leaders of Hamas convened to discuss a new Gaza ceasefire proposal brought forward by US President Donald Trump on Sunday, September 7.

The delegation, which includes senior Hamas leaders and is headed by Khalil al-Hayya, survived the airstrike, according to an official in the Palestinian movement. However, member of Hamas political bureau, Suhail al-Hindi, told Al Jazeera that the son of Khalil al-Hayya, Humam al-Hayya, and his office director, Jehad Labad, were killed in the attack.

#PeoplesHistory | Today, we remember the Attica prisoner uprising, a revolt that took place in 1971 against oppression and inhumanity.

Between September 9 and 13, 1971, out of roughly 2,200 men imprisoned at Attica, 1,281 seized control of the facility. Prisoners held control of part of the prison for four days, during which officials conceded to 28 of the prisoners’ demands.

On September 13, 1971, Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller sent state troopers armed with rifles and pistols to retake Attica from the prisoners. The four-day uprising ended in a hail of blood and gunfire that left 39 dead, among them 10 prison staff. Four more had already died earlier during the uprising. With 43 men dead, the vast majority from the violence of state repression, the Attica prison uprising is still the deadliest prison uprising in US history.

By displaying strength on a day marking antifascist unity, China signals its dual path: deterrence without escalation, and development without domination. In a shifting world, it aims to prevent war, not wage it.

As Israel makes headlines for launching attacks on its neighbors and even US-ally and ceasefire mediator Qatar, it continues its attempts to force the Palestinian people out of Gaza, destroying another high-rise residential building in Gaza City.

While more and more voices across the world demand an end to Israel's crimes, its key sponsor and ally, the United States has refused to back down.

On September 10, Israel announced that its forces carried out airstrikes in Yemeni cities Sana’a and al-Jawf, targeting military camps, a fuel facility, and what it said was a media office.

These strikes were confirmed by Yemen’s Ansar Allah. These strikes come only one day after Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in the heart of Qatar’s capital, Doha, in an attempt to assassinate the negotiation team of Hamas.

“They’ll get over it” says Israeli ambassador to the US, responding to critics of Israel’s aggression.

On September 4, 2025, federal agents carried out the largest single-site immigration enforcement action in US history, raiding the Hyundai–LG electric vehicle battery plant under construction in Ellabell, Georgia.

“This raid is not an isolated incident. It is part of a dangerous, escalating pattern of government agencies abducting people from schools, neighborhoods, airports, and workplaces with growing impunity. If workers fear going to their jobs, there will be instability across industries and daily life,” reads a joint statement signed by a variety of immigrant rights and Asian American groups, including Migrant Equity Southeast, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta, and Asians are Strong. “This week it was Hyundai’s and LG Energy Solution plant workers. Tomorrow, it could be any one of us – because we have already seen at scale the efforts to chip away at our collective civil liberties.”

Communist Party of India (Marxist) and several other opposition groups, intellectuals, and activists condemned the Indian government for hosting Israel’s ultra-right-wing leader and finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich.

Smotrich, a leader of the violent and racist settlement movement in the occupied West Bank, has been one of the main backers of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza and a key obstacle to ceasefire negotiations. He, along with Israel’s national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir, have been pushing for the mass starvation of the Palestinians in Gaza to force them out of the besieged territory for Israel’s annexation of it.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago and the state of Illinois.

Trump’s DHS has framed the operation as a response to “sanctuary city” policies, which are protocols implemented by more left-leaning areas aiming to shield immigrant workers from ICE raids. The Trump administration has used much of its power to level threats at so-called “Democrat-run” cities such as Chicago.

“For years, Governor Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians released Tren de Aragua gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers on Chicago’s streets – putting American lives at risk and making Chicago a magnet for criminals,” state DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 11, Supreme Court Minister Cármen Lúcia cast the vote to cement the majority decision to convict former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other allies accused of coup plot.

In her vote, the minister stated that “Jair Messias Bolsonaro committed the crimes with which he is charged as the leader of a criminal organization. He was not swept up into the insurgency. He is the instigator, he is the leader of an organization that promoted all forms of coordination aligned with the goal of maintaining or seizing power.”
