Hamas issued a statement refuting remarks attributed to US Special Envoy to “the Middle East” Steve Witkoff that the Palestinian resistance movement showed willingness to “demilitarize” to end Israel’s ongoing genocidal aggression on Gaza.

“Resistance and its weapons is a national and legal entitlement as long as the occupation persists, and it has been recognized by international conventions and norms,” the statement reads.

Left organizations in Belgium are using the typically slower European summer to gear up for ManiFiesta, the annual festival of solidarity that many recognize as the launchpad for a new cycle of political activities in the region.

#PeoplesHistory | Today marks the 80th anniversary the US bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima (August 6) and on Nagasaki (August 9).

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the first and only time that nuclear weapons have been used in war. They caused catastrophic loss of life, widespread devastation, and lasting health impacts on the people in the cities due to radiation exposure.
