🇨🇺The US blockade of Cuba has plunged the country into darkness.

As of Friday, October 18, Cuba has been suffering an unprecedented national blackout. The cause of this is the lack of fuel and maintenance to keep the electrical grid operating properly. Cuba has been severely restricted from purchasing fuel and crucial supplies because of the tight US blockade on the country. Cuban officials have repeatedly called for Washington to lift some of these suffocating sanctions (and the blockade as a whole) and allow the country to purchase lifesaving supplies, yet once again their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

Read the account of this blackout from journalist Luis de Jesús, direct from Havana.

🎹🎸🇦🇷 Happy birthday to Charly García, the rebellious voice of Argentine rock who dared to speak truth to power.

In a time of state terrorism, torture, and forced disappearances, when silence was mandated, his music screamed louder. From 'Los Dinosaurios' and 'Botas Locas' to 'No Bombardeen Buenos Aires,' he turned his music into a weapon of resistance against the military dictatorship (1976-1983), giving voice to a generation living in fear.

Through Sui Generis, Serú Girán and his solo work, he crafted anthems of freedom that still resonate today. Whether in sky blue and white or sporting his iconic half-black, half-white mustache, he showed us that rock isn't just about music—it's about standing up for what's right. ¡Feliz cumpleaños to a true legend!🤘
