Laila Soueif, the mother of imprisoned Egyptian-British political activist and writer Alaa Abdel Fattah, announced on Monday, September 30 that she started a hunger strike to protest Alaa’s continued imprisonment.

“Once again, the Egyptian authorities have violated their own laws to persecute my son. At this stage. I consider this a kidnapping as well as unlawful detention,” Soueif said in a statement.

Despite being scheduled for release on September 29, Egyptian authorities have refused to release Abdel Fattah.

The airstrike on the Tulkarm refugee camp marked the first time in two decades that Israeli forces have used war planes in the occupied West Bank.

At least 18 Palestinians were killed and several others injured on Thursday night, in an airstrike launched by an Israeli F-16 fighter jet that targeted a coffee shop in the Tulkarm Refugee camp, in the northern occupied West Bank. A family of four, including two children, was killed in the aggression.

🇲🇽 Mexico's first female president, Claudia Sheinbaum, responds to sexist comment by Mexican actor Rafael Inclán that "Mexico will have a housewife for six years".

Sheinbaum faced a deluge of sexist comments and scrutiny during her campaign, questioning her ability to govern and her likeability. She however has affirmed that, "This idea that women do not have capacity and that there always has to be a man behind us telling us what we have to do, is part of a macho culture." She has also vowed to continue the struggle against sexism and discrimination and stated: "we now want substantive equality to be recognized in the Constitution."

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei led Friday prayer on October 4 for the first time in five years.

This mass raising of consciousness has brought the majority of people in the United States on the side of an arms embargo against Israel.
