The dictator’s legacy is celebrated by some and condemned by others. What is certain is that Fujimorism will continue to be a relevant actor in Peruvian politics for years to come.
His legacy is harshly criticized by political actors on the right, center, and left, as well as by many human rights organizations that see in his government a model of political management based on authoritarianism, repression, and the radicalization of a neoliberal economic model that still maintains Peru as one of the most unequal countries in the world.

#PeoplesHistory | 🇨🇱🎼Today, we remember Victor Jara, a musician, artist, and an active member of the Communist Party of Chile. He was a pioneer in the Latin American cultural movement "New Song" and put into practice the idea that art and progressive politics should converge to strengthen people's resistance.
Immediately after the coup d'etat against socialist president Salvador Allende on September 11, 1973, military forces captured, tortured, and killed Jara. Many survivors of the military dictatorship who were captured alongside him have stated that Jara sang to keep up the spirits of his comrades during detention. According to reports, military officers broke his hands, tortured him, and then incited him to keep singing. This was right before he was summarily executed on September 16, 1973.
To this day, Jara's resistance remains an inspiration for people's movements across the world.
