26-year-old US activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi succumbed to her wounds on Friday after being shot by Israeli forces at a protest in Beita, to the south of Nablus.

Headlines from Western mainstream media sources have already attempted to obscure who killed the solidarity activist, with CNN stating “American activist shot dead during protest in West Bank, Palestinian officials say,” CBS News writing, “American woman Aysenur Eygi killed in Israeli-occupied West Bank, US confirms,” and BBC writing. “American activist shot dead in occupied West Bank.”

The third anniversary of the end of the two decades of US war and occupation in Afghanistan coincides with a particularly contentious presidential election year in the US. Both the Democrats and Republicans are busy blaming each other for the fiasco.

It is clear that Afghanistan has become yet another embarrassing episode in the long history of US imperial adventures which no one wants to take responsibility for.

Though Israel has been fixated on preventing alleged weapons infiltration from Iran to Palestinian resistance groups in the West Bank through its borders with Jordan, the shooting showcased that the security measures of the Zionist entity are breachable.

As Israel has the longest borders with Jordan, Al-Jazi’s attack has raised concerns of the Israeli military that a new front has been added to its multiple war fronts in the region including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the northern borders with Lebanon, and the Red Sea in the south due to continuous attacks by Yemen’s Ansar Allah.

The calculated and cruel violence suffered by Gisèle Pelicot has shaken the world to its core, yet her demand to make the trial public and shift the shame to the perpetrators of these acts, has inspired many.

The images of a stoic Gisèle Pelicot, who in the small courtroom had to relive events she did not remember, have traveled around the world. However, the victim was quick to say that her expression should not be confused with her state of mind and mental health: “[In the recordings] I am inert, in my bed, and I am being raped. They are barbaric scenes. My world is crumbling, everything is crumbling, everything I’ve built in fifty years. Frankly, for me, they are scenes of terror.”

#PeoplesHistory | Today, on his death anniversary, we remember the Chinese revolutionary, Marxist theorist and military strategist Mao Zedong.

Among many other crucial accomplishments, Mao was a founding member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and helped build the Chinese Red Army which he led into war for liberation and victory. In 1949, the CCP, led by Mao, founded the People's Republic of China, and he served as its first president until his death on a day like today in 1976.

For the past few weeks, right-wing media and politicians have been whipped up into a frenzy over the supposed takeover of an Aurora, Colorado apartment building by a Venezuelan gang after a video went viral depicting armed men in The Edge at Lowry complex.

Residents of the apartment complexes in question, however, claim that the landlord, the Brooklyn, New York based CBZ Management, has exploited anti-migrant frenzy as an excuse to neglect repairs in the building. The mayor of Aurora, a conservative himself, has dubbed CBZ Management as “out of state slumlords.”

For more clarity on the situation in Aurora, Peoples Dispatch spoke to Nate Kassa, a community organizer with the East Colfax Community Collective, a grassroots organization in Colorado.

Lenacapavir, an injectable antiretroviral drug developed by Gilead Sciences, recently made headlines after a Phase 3 clinical trial in South Africa and Uganda showed it to be 100% effective in preventing HIV among cisgender women and adolescent girls.

Yet, this case highlights a broader, systemic problem within the pharmaceutical industry, which is dominated by large transnational corporations, commonly referred to as Big Pharma.

While the production cost of this medicine could be estimated at US$40 per patient per year—including a 30% profit margin—lenacapavir is currently marketed at US$42,250 per patient per year to treat HIV infection.

Whether scholasticide or educide, the phenomenon is ghastly; it is nothing less than the attempt to erase the culture of Palestinians.

In April 2024, a group of UN special rapporteurs and other experts known as the Special Procedures of the UN Human Rights Council accused the Israelis of “scholasticide.” They reported that the destruction of most of Gaza’s schools and universities constituted “persistent, callous attacks on educational infrastructure in Gaza.”

🇯🇴Jordan held parliamentary elections on September 10 in a context of increased tensions in the country.

Initial reports indicated lower voter turnout in the elections despite recent election reforms aimed at expanding participation.

The masses in Jordan have been out on the streets for the last 11 months demanding that their government take action to stop Israel's genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and now in the West Bank.

The unprecedented attack carried out by Jordanian truck driver Maher Al-Jazi on September 8, killing 3 Israeli border guards, has further driven a wedge between the government and the people who demand an end to all cooperation with Israel. Now they demand the return of his body from Israeli occupation authorities.

Peoples Dispatch reporter Aseel Saleh reports from the ground.

#PeoplesHistory | This is one of the last pictures of the socialist President of Chile, Salvador Allende, taken 51 years ago on September 11, 1973.

In this picture, Allende is preparing the defense of La Moneda Presidential Palace, as the CIA-backed coup was underway to overthrow his government.

The coup plotters, led by Augusto Pinochet, installed a decades-long bloody dictatorship that imprisoned, tortured, killed, and disappeared thousands of mainly working-class, leftist and progressive people.

The far-right Chilean military and the CIA carried out the coup to destroy the socialist process that Allende was implementing in Chile, which included nationalizing key industries, providing health, housing, and schools for the working class, and taking Chile on a socialist path. This was unacceptable for imperialist powers and their local lackeys.
