Last week, a video went viral showing a group of armed men at The Edge at Lowry apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. The video has made its rounds across the right-wing media and political commentators, capitalizing on the fear mongering around the reported influx of migrants entering the United States, especially from Venezuela.

According to the apartment’s landlord, Brooklyn-based CBZ Management, members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua have taken control of the buildings, stolen rent money from residents, and chased out the property management.

But the right-wing fear mongering over gangs in Colorado obscures the larger issue of landlord neglect, according to residents.

Though Israel has been fixated on preventing alleged weapons infiltration from Iran to Palestinian resistance groups in the West Bank through its borders with Jordan, the shooting showcased that the security measures of the Zionist entity are breachable.

As Israel has the longest borders with Jordan, Al-Jazi’s attack has raised concerns of the Israeli military that a new front has been added to its multiple war fronts in the region including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the northern borders with Lebanon, and the Red Sea in the south due to continuous attacks by Yemen’s Ansar Allah.

The calculated and cruel violence suffered by Gisèle Pelicot has shaken the world to its core, yet her demand to make the trial public and shift the shame to the perpetrators of these acts, has inspired many.

The images of a stoic Gisèle Pelicot, who in the small courtroom had to relive events she did not remember, have traveled around the world. However, the victim was quick to say that her expression should not be confused with her state of mind and mental health: “[In the recordings] I am inert, in my bed, and I am being raped. They are barbaric scenes. My world is crumbling, everything is crumbling, everything I’ve built in fifty years. Frankly, for me, they are scenes of terror.”

For the past few weeks, right-wing media and politicians have been whipped up into a frenzy over the supposed takeover of an Aurora, Colorado apartment building by a Venezuelan gang after a video went viral depicting armed men in The Edge at Lowry complex.

Residents of the apartment complexes in question, however, claim that the landlord, the Brooklyn, New York based CBZ Management, has exploited anti-migrant frenzy as an excuse to neglect repairs in the building. The mayor of Aurora, a conservative himself, has dubbed CBZ Management as “out of state slumlords.”

For more clarity on the situation in Aurora, Peoples Dispatch spoke to Nate Kassa, a community organizer with the East Colfax Community Collective, a grassroots organization in Colorado.
