Formerly and currently incarcerated organizers in Alabama are striking out against a prison system that they characterize as slavery.

Incarcerated organizers, many of them forming part of organizations such as the Free Alabama Movement (FAM), have been leading the efforts against the Alabama prison system. The specific demands they have brought forward include repealing the Habitual Felony Offender Act, which they argue keeps prisoners, particularly Black prisoners, incarcerated. Other demands are abolishing life sentences without parole, instating mandatory parole guidelines and retroactive sentencing guidelines, ending nitrogen gas executions, and ending the theft of prisoner organs.

According to three different agencies of the UN, over half a million Palestinians are on the verge of famine if heavy interruption of humanitarian aid persists and a ceasefire does not take effect in Gaza soon.

Israeli forces opened fire against famished Palestinian civilians who were surrounding food and aid trucks in Gaza on February 29 at 4 am.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israeli forces killed at least 100 civilians and injured about 1,000 others.

Israeli forces killed at least 104 Palestinians and injured over 750 who were waiting for food aid in Gaza on Thursday, February 29.

The attack took place while thousands of internally displaced Palestinians were waiting for trucks carrying food and other aid to arrive on the coastal al-Rashid street, southwest of Gaza city.

Media reports said that ambulances could not reach the spot due to intense Israeli shelling.

NYC remembers Aaron Bushnell.

New Yorkers attended a vigil to honor Aaron Bushnell, an active-duty US soldier who self-immolated in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC, demanding an end to the US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza.

As Bushnell said before he carried out his act of protest, "I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

At the initiative of the Left, the European Parliament’s plenary in Strasbourg amended the 67th article of the 2023 Report on the ‘Human Rights and Democracy in the World and the European Union’s policy on the matter’ to include the call for an “immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, allowing uninterrupted access to food and water for its inhabitants.”

The European Parliament was able to call for a permanent, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza only last month, on February 28, over 140 days after the genocidal war began.
