On the second and final day of the crucial appeal permission hearing for Julian Assange, the US repeated long-debunked and discredited theories and allegations.

The prosecution team led by Claire Dobbin and Joel Smith presented arguments that obfuscated facts and misrepresented both the prosecution against Assange and the nature of work done by WikiLeaks.

#PeoplesHistory | February 22 marks the anniversary of the 1943 execution of three young leaders of the anti-fascist White Rose resistance in Nazi Germany—Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans, and their friend Christoph Probst.

As students at the University of Munich, they helped anonymously distribute leaflets condemning Hitler's regime and calling for peaceful action against the government's atrocities. When caught distributing pamphlets on campus, the three were quickly tried and convicted of treason. The execution of the young students at the hands of the Nazis made them martyrs and symbols of moral courage in the face of violent, fascist authoritarianism.

Biden is reportedly weighing executive action on immigration that could prevent those crossing the US border unlawfully from claiming asylum.

If enacted, the action would be similar to former President Donald Trump’s attempt to target asylum seekers in 2018, which was blocked by federal courts and denounced by Democrats at the time.

#PeoplesHistory | On this day, we remember the legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois, whose groundbreaking research and writing exposed the oppressive links between racism, economic exploitation, and imperialism.

Du Bois was a courageous activist for socialism, believing it was the only path to racial justice and true liberation for all people. His Marxist analysis and commitment to solidarity continues to inspire movements to this day.

Without a ceasefire, there will be a famine ravaging through the region by May, warned the World Food Programme (WFP).

In a new report based on data collected by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, the Global Nutrition Cluster found that over 15% of children under the age of 2 in northern Gaza are acutely malnourished, with 3% of them suffering from wasting.

Aaron Bushnell stated: "I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it is not extreme at all."

“I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest,” he said in a self-recorded livestream outside of the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC. “But, compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.” He then lit himself on fire. He later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

Formerly and currently incarcerated organizers in Alabama are striking out against a prison system that they characterize as slavery.

Incarcerated organizers, many of them forming part of organizations such as the Free Alabama Movement (FAM), have been leading the efforts against the Alabama prison system. The specific demands they have brought forward include repealing the Habitual Felony Offender Act, which they argue keeps prisoners, particularly Black prisoners, incarcerated. Other demands are abolishing life sentences without parole, instating mandatory parole guidelines and retroactive sentencing guidelines, ending nitrogen gas executions, and ending the theft of prisoner organs.

According to three different agencies of the UN, over half a million Palestinians are on the verge of famine if heavy interruption of humanitarian aid persists and a ceasefire does not take effect in Gaza soon.

“Gaza is seeing the worst level of child malnutrition anywhere in the world” with one in every six children under the age of two acutely malnourished, Carl Skau, WFP Deputy Executive Director, informed the UNSC.

#PeoplesHistory | On this day in 1972, the trial of legendary Black Communist activist Angela Davis began in California. Facing unjust charges, Davis built a powerful defense campaign supported by over 300 solidarity groups around the world. With experienced lawyers by her side, Davis consistently exposed holes in the prosecution's case. On June 4, the all-white jury returned not guilty verdicts on all charges - a major victory against political repression. #AngelaDavis
