Israel has rejected a proposal presented by Hamas for a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza.

Following a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared in a press conference on February 7 that Israel was “on the way to complete victory,” that “there is no other solution” and that the war would be won in “a matter of months.”

NATO’s ongoing military exercise Steadfast Defender 2024 is shaking the ground in Europe reaching Russia’s land border from Norway to its maritime border with Romania. The massive drill threatens a continent-wide escalation of the conflict.

Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has warned that NATO’s Steadfast Defender drills are “provocative”, and could potentially lead to “tragic consequences” for Europe.

1.4+ million displaced Palestinians taking refuge in Rafah and are now effectively trapped with nowhere else to go.

The World Health Organization’s chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, termed reports regarding the invasion “extremely worrying”, and on X noted that “proceeding with the plans could have gravely devastating consequences for the 1.4 million people who have nowhere else left to go, and who have almost no place left to seek health care.”
